Event Description

Following a highly successful festival in summer 2013, we are seeking skilled Theatre Designers to create, communicate and co-ordinate the set and costume designs for our titles this season:

Sweeney Todd, The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (Stephen Sondheim)
Blackadder [series tbc] (Richard Curtis / Ben Elton)
The Taming of the Shrew (William Shakespeare)

The aim of this evening’s session is to provide as much information as possible to potential designers, who then, if interested, are asked to submit a rough design proposal (including set and/or costume ideas and sketches etc) for one or more of the above titles.

This is a fantastic opportunity to develop skills, network and work alongside a wide variety of people. Whilst the majority of persons are acting for or working with Everyman on a volunteer/ amateur basis, many of them also work professionally within theatre and theatre arts.

Our Directors are professionals, working within Wales as well as London and beyond on a wide variety of productions.

The 2014 festival site is built specifically for the festival and is due to be erected and in situ between the dates of 26th June - 4th August, in a central Cardiff location [tbc, likely to be Sophia Gardens].

The stage is open air and the 399-seater auditorium undercover. Designers will need to take into account the outdoor nature of the performances and the constraints and considerations this presents to the realisation of their ideas.
