Jamaica, 1952 and Gloria, 27, has a dream. More than that. She has a vision. A strength. A calling. She is going to leave behind everything she has ever known and travel thousands of miles to the answer the call of a still beleaguered, post-war UK, and become a nurse.

When she gets there – there being Swansea – nothing is as she thought it would be, but Gloria is not a woman to give up on her dreams easily.

2018. Judy, Gloria’s granddaughter, is a nurse in Swansea. She grew up hearing her grandmother’s stories about working at the hospital and aspired to be just like her. Depressingly for Judy, successive governments have managed to bring her beloved NHS to its knees. Much has changed since Gloria’s days, for the worse.

Today, Judy is on the brink of giving it all up, of just walking away from nursing. There’s a chance though, that if she can rekindle some of her passion for the job, for the people, the stories her grandmother shared, then she might just… come back tomorrow.

This funny and touching one-woman show brings to life two very different women, generations apart, who share a vocation and a love for a unique institution, born here in Wales.

Jamaica, 1952 ac mae gan Gloria, 27, freuddwyd. Mewn gwirionedd, mae’n fwy na hynny. Mae ganddi weledigaeth. Nerth. Galwedigaeth. Mae am adael popeth ar ei hôl, y cyfan y mae wedi ei adnabod, a theithio miloedd o filltiroedd i ateb galwad y DU, sydd dal mewn cyflwr truenus ar ôl y rhyfel, ac mae am fod yn nyrs.

Pan mae’n cyrraedd yno – ac Abertawe yw’r yno hwnnw – does dim byd fel y meddyliodd y byddai, ond ‘dyw Gloria ddim yn fenyw i roi’r gorau i’w breuddwydion yn rhwydd iawn.

2018. Mae Judy, wyres Gloria, yn nyrs yn Abertawe. Fe dyfodd hi yn clywed straeon ei Mam-gu ynghylch gweithio yn yr ysbyty, ac yn dymuno bod jyst fel hi. Er mawr ddiflastod i Judy, mae’r naill lywodraeth ar ôl y llall wedi sigo ei GIG annwyl a bellach mae’r gwasanaeth ar ei liniau. Mae llawer yn sicr wedi newid ers dydd Gloria, a dim un peth er gwell.

Heddiw, mae Judy ar fin rhoi’r gorau i’r cwbl lot, ar fin rhoi’r gorau i nyrsio. Mae yna obaith egwan fodd bynnag, os gall hi ail-danio’r angerdd a fu ganddi am y gwaith, cofio’r storïau a rannwyd gan ei mam-gu yna mae yna bosibilrwydd bach …. y bydd hi’n dod yn ôl fory.

Mae’r sioe un fenyw ddoniol a theimladwy hon yn dod â bywydau dwy fenyw wahanol iawn yn fyw, y maent ill dwy yn rhannu’r un alwedigaeth a’r un cariad tuag at sefydliad unigryw, gyda hwnnw wedi ei danio yma yng Nghymru.
