Its dance, Jim, but not as we know it....
at 7pm on Saturday, the stage at the Sherman will be filled with dancers who don't know what their first step is going to be.
they will wait patiently for the audience to switch on their smartphones, log in to a local network and begin the experiment.
taking inspiration from stories shared by the audience, the dancers create movement material from scratch, which is then further developed by audience vote into a unique short dance work, shown at the end of the event.
i'll be on stage, making a soundtrack, lighting design and video backdrop out of the stories, and sharing the creative process with individuals in the audience, all via the magic of mobile technology.
This will be the first time we have tried out the Movement Factory in public - its part of the Digital R&D Fund for the Arts in Wales, supported by Nesta, AHRC and ACW, and to be quite frank - we don't know what's going to happen, except that boundaries will be pushed and audiences will engage.

Hello Richard,
an ipad will work brilliantly, although won't fit in your pocket. unless you wear that coat with the massive pockets. we'll be making use of the Wi-Fi facility, so any Wi-Fi-enabled device will work. there's nothing to download and no debris left on the device, its all done via your browser.
