It’s My Shout Productions is calling for 10 minute short film scripts for its flagship series of short films.

Successful writers will be chosen to work with It’s My Shout and BBC Cymru Wales to develop a ten minute script. The writers will receive industry mentoring and script work-shopping. The script will be developed and produced before being broadcast on BBC Cymru Wales. Selected script writers must be available for regular script development meetings in Wales throughout pre-production, (intermittently during May and June 2016).

They are looking to reflect modern Welsh communities and culture in the widest possible sense – Applicants and their scripts should have strong connections to Wales.

It’s My Shout are looking for new, original ideas and imaginative scripts, which will entertain and inspire audiences. This year they are looking for as wide a variety of scripts as possible, you could write a romantic comedy, period drama, a gritty piece of social commentary, or even a musical! So don’t be scared to use your imagination.

Guidelines:

• 10 minutes (guide 1 page/minute)
• Suitable for low budget production
• Challenging, 3 dimensional characters
• Scope for budding actors of all ages
• They encourage scripts that show an awareness of ethnic diversity and disability.
• All films will be produced in Wales – so scripts should reflect this. They are looking to reflect modern Welsh life in all its diversity
• For a realistic script, try to keep the number of location changes to a minimum.
• Remember, a story surrounding young people does not have to take place in a school, they want writers to be as creative as possible.
