Actorsworkshop turns 10 in 2011!

To say a big thank-you we are offering three new courses with exclusive discounts!

Starting in January 2011 we'll be running three weekly courses for all levels and abilities. Whether you'd like to join us for the first time, brush up on some performance skills or get involved in a production, we think we've got something for you!

Our new workshops look like this:

Actorsworkshop: Academy

Wed 19th Jan-Wed 23rd March 2011
7.15-9.15pm
Chapter Arts Centre: 1st Space

These take place on Wednesday nights from January 19th, and for ten weeks until March 23rd. The ten week course will run from 7.15-9.15pm each Wednesday night in Chapter Art Centre’s 1st Space and will cover everything you need to know about theatre and the way actorsworkshop works. A place to build key skills in acting, theatre and performance! The sessions will cover everything from audition technique, physical theatre, sight reading and textual analysis through to rehearsal techniques and the industry.

And, if that wasn't enough, on the final night we are giving you a free ticket to the South Wales Theatre Collective’s performance of 'Death and the Maiden', in association with actorsworkshop. Performed at Chapter Arts Centre. A great way to end the term!

Entry to this course will be by application form followed by successful applicants being invited in for an informal chat with the team.

Actorsworkshop: Advanced

Thurs 24th February - Thurs 28th April 2011
7.15-9.15pm
Chapter Arts Centre: 1st Space

Our new advanced term will take place each Thursday evening at Chapter Arts Centre from 24th February until 28th April and will look at approaching texts. During the term you'll work on a scripted duologue from an established theatre play and work towards an end of term show-back of the scene in week ten at Chapter to invited guests.

This course is designed for those with a good existing knowledge of acting and for those who wish to develop/polish these skills further. The course will look at a range of practitioner methods from Stanislavski through to Meisner in order to build the relevant skills to develop a truthful and confident performance.

This course also comes included with a free ticket to view the production of 'Death and the Maiden' at Chapter in March.

Entry to this series is a two-stage process. A stage one application form followed by successful applicants being invited in to deliver a monologue to a panel.

Actorsworkshop: Productions

Thurs 3rd February - Fri 6 May 2011
7.00-9.00pm
Llanover Hall Arts Centre

Our third spring series will lead participants through the process of staging a production of a brand new and specially scripted piece of text, to be performed over two nights in the theatre space at Llanover Hall Arts Centre in May. The course is pitched at a higher technical level, and as such actorsworkshop will be looking for performers who are able to dedicate time towards the creation of a new performance piece. The course is demanding and requires time outside of the usual sessions to be given over to line learning and character study.

Entry to this course is by application and audition only. Following a stage one application form successful applicants will be invited to take part in an audition day which will look at performing a monologue, sight reading, improvisation and physicality.

The course also comes inclusive of a free ticket to the production of 'Death and the Maiden' at Chapter in March.

BOX OFFICE:

As part of our birthday celebrations we are offering 10 successful applicants for each course the chance to purchase their term pass for £10 off the usual price. The first ten to sign up to this deal will receive the discount.

Actors Needed!

Ludus Ludius are taking an improv show to Edinburgh Fringe, do you want to perform?

Apply by getting in touch; website, email, NTW group, fb group or any other online or personal form of communication is fine. Modern days, hey, endless supply of impersonal communication - I didn't even list one! tut.

Urgent Casting:

looking for an actress (late 30s - early 40s) with an appetite for new writing and physical theatre. This is an ACW-funded project: two weeks work late Feb early March, ongoing probabilities including a full run in Edinburgh. This is a major role in an ambitious new work - and it's an emotional roller-coaster. There are wages. Not great. The rest of the acting company is in place and they are great. Hoping to meet people next Wednesday and Thursday in Cardiff. Please email me: tv@terryvictor.co.uk
