Who we are and what we do

Who we are

We are two actors who graduated from Bristol Old Vic Theatre School in 2013. We believe that the best way to study Shakespeare is to perform it. We use the tools, knowledge and skills acquired during training to help students not only understand Shakespeare but to enjoy it!

What we do

•Provide a workshop that can help to conquer any hang ups or fears about Shakespeare's language.

•Empower students coming up to a written exam where a Shakespeare play is the topic.

•Give students working on a Shakespeare monologue for audition or performance the ability to USE Shakespeare's words to convey character and emotion.

The simple aim of the workshop is to help students to feel comfortable and confident with the text so that they can pick up a Shakespeare play and not want to immediately put it back down! What's more they feel that they can discuss the stories; the language should be the key rather than a barrier to understanding the plot.

Our workshops are very flexible and are designed to be as helpful to the teachers as to the students. As I say we run a number of workshops depending on what teachers feel is going to be most beneficial to the pupils.

Our Workshops

1.) Tackling the language of Shakespeare-(verse structure, iambic pentameter, prose and rhyme.)

2.)Exploring characterisation and plot within the plays.

3.)Shakespeare Monologues- Advice on selecting and performing monologues either as performance pieces or as drama school audition preparation (for A level students)

Who are the workshops aimed at?

The workshops are mainly for year 9 and above. They act as a great introduction to Shakespeare for year 9s and a fantastic exam focus for GCSE and A Level students of English or Drama.

Cost and additional info

The cost of the workshops are £160 per day +travel. We work with as many or as few classes as you like (although not all at once!) The minimum length of a single workshop is one hour but longer is better. Workshops can be catered to you and the plays the pupils are working on; we will work with any requests and focus points you may have.

Hey Everyone on the 8th November my company 'Bard Busters' will be running a workshop day on our adaptation of Twelfth Night in the Seligman Room and WMC. The show will do a short run at the studio space of the Riverfront Theatre in January and is in collaboration with the Education department there. We’re currently in the process of arranging a tour for the piece and are looking for actors, this is a PAID OPPORTUNITY. If you’re free on the 8th and would like to be involved please feel free to come along. The day starts at 11 and finishes at 4. It’s an opportunity for you to meet us and us to meet you. Casting will be done as a result of the workshop. Contact me for more details and to let me know if you’ll be attending bardbusters1@gmail.com

Thanks everyone! x

Great initiative; I wish you well.  This is just to throw my hat in the ring in case you need an old charater in the future!
