Information

Cardiff Shakespeare Readers

Cardiff Shakespeare Readers is a group for people to get together and experience ALL the great playwright's works as they were intended - spoken aloud! We meet once a month, on a Sunday evening, and read aloud one of Shakespeare’s plays.

Website: http://www.cardiffshakespearereaders.co.uk
Location: Chapter, Cardiff
Members: 31
Latest Activity: Jul 26

Working through the plays in rough chronological order, the aim is to read the complete works of Shakespeare. Anyone is welcome to attend and read aloud, no matter what theatrical or literary experience they have. All that is required is an enthusiasm for the bard (and £3 to contribute towards the cost of room hire...)

We aim to encourage and involve the following:

NETWORKING FOR ACTORS/ DIRECTORS/ WRITERS: We count amongst our regular readers professionals from all aspects of the theatre industry including actors, directors and writers.

AMATEUR ACTORS/ STUDENT ACTORS: All are welcome - there is no audition, no judgement, and no heirarchy in who gets to read the "big" parts.

THEATRE-GOERS and LITERATURE FANS: Anyone can come and read with the group or simply listen - each play is preceeded by an introduction to the play, it's themes and Shakespeare's world.

SOCIALISING: We all find plenty of time for a chat, a coffee, or something a little more medicinal as the evening commences!

Everyone is expected to bring along a copy of the relevant script. A “Complete Works” is fine!
Please let me know if you would be interested in attending, and I’ll keep you up to date on any forthcoming plans.

Great idea - I had heard of someone else attending this and thought it was a great idea. Not sure how often I can attend - but will try to.
