Hijinx Residency #7: Ockham's Razor

Hijinx Residency with Ockham’s Razor
Date:
January 21st – 25th 2013
Venue: Sherman Cymru
Price: £150

We are excited to announce that Ockham’s Razor will be joining us for a week of workshops in the New Year. The company will set up their touring rig on the main stage of Sherman Cymru, which will be used for the residency throughout the week.

Who are Ockham’s Razor?

In their own words: We are an aerial theatre company who combine circus and visual theatre to make work that is arresting and entertaining. Rather than paint the circus performer as a superhuman character capable of impressive feats we make work that draws on the human and the real, where the characters go through recognisable experiences, emotions and conflicts which the audience can identify with and relate to. Our shows are exciting and moving and we feel that we’ve achieved our aims when members of the audience have said to us “I wanted to come on stage and do it with you”.

Well now’s your chance! Two directors of the company Alex Harvey, Charlotte Mooney and performer Luke Horley will be with us for the week to tutor you in honing your aerial skills according to you level. The week will also focus on how the company devises its shows, merging aerial performance with slick visual storytelling.  The workshop is ideal for actors, aerial/circus performers, directors, students, theatre makers and teachers, in fact for anyone with an interest in the company or physical theatre.

Working inclusively
The week will also be an experiment in working inclusively. If you have never worked alongside learning disabled performers The Hijinx Residencies are a fantastic opportunity to do so.  A number of places at each course will be allocated to students from the Hijinx Academy, our advanced drama training course for talented learning disabled actors.  Come ready to work in a lively, empowering and massively enjoyable environment.
