Hi my name is Jack; I'm a documentary photography student in Newport. I worked last year for a voluntary scheme called Platform2 and I did some work with young people in Butetown and I was amazed by the unique diversity of the area.

I am starting a portrait project in Butetown to run alongside the Soul Exchange show about celebrating this diversity. I want to work in collaboration with a writer from Butetown who would be interested in writing about my photos. I'm especially interested in working with someone from the Somali community. I want the project to reflect the area from the view of someone who lives there rather than just be my interpretation from the outside.

I would greatly appreciate any input and if anyone knows a young writer who would be interested in teaming up please let me know.
