WalesLab information

WalesLab was NTW's initiative for supporting emerging artists and new ideas for performance. This is a group and discussion forum for those artists involved in WalesLab or those interested in learning more about the various projects under development.

WalesLab consisted of:

Summercamp:

A summer camp for up to twenty theatre makers and artists of varied experience to share ideas, learn form each other and stimulate new collaborations and projects (watch the video below to find out more).

WalesLab projects -

Small groups working for around 1-2 weeks based somewhere in Wales.

Germinate:    Three times a year small groups of artists will be offered the opportunity to spend around two weeks somewhere in Wales developing an idea or project which they have already begun working on, and will share their work with a local audience. There will be three Germinate projects a year, one of which will have an international element.

WalesLab is no longer open for new submissions. Have a look at the 'Your Work' page on the NTW website to find out about how to share your ideas with the company.

In May Dorothea Lodwick and I spent a week in Neath working on our WalesLab project Shit: I'm Single, which explores the realms of online dating. Have a look at Dorothea's blog post to find out what we have been up to and ways of getting involved.

This sounds like a fantastic project from our friends at the Royal Court!

Do have a look at some of the work that's already been submitted and pop something over to them if inspiration strikes!!

More info from their literary office below...

For the next few weeks the Royal Court is looking for Found Plays – overheard conversations, arresting tannoy announcements, magazine articles that read like an argument…

It’s possibly easier to look at the examples than it is to describe them, but we want people to find and frame dramatic moments for us.  There are full details on the website about how to submit, and guidelines about what writers might look for, but we also want to be surprised by the form!

The plays which are selected will be displayed on the website around the Royal Court building in a variety of ways, and we’re particularly interested in finding plays which are fully or partially in languages other than English.  The plays can be submitted via email, post or by phoning our Lost and Found Plays Line on 0800 756 9597.

Me and James have just been on Tudno FM to talk about the project and put a call out for fellow CBers. Went very well and we have arranged a meeting with our CB man for Wednesday.  Will blog later with our progress
