WalesLab information

WalesLab was NTW's initiative for supporting emerging artists and new ideas for performance. This is a group and discussion forum for those artists involved in WalesLab or those interested in learning more about the various projects under development.

WalesLab consisted of:

Summercamp:

A summer camp for up to twenty theatre makers and artists of varied experience to share ideas, learn form each other and stimulate new collaborations and projects (watch the video below to find out more).

WalesLab projects -

Small groups working for around 1-2 weeks based somewhere in Wales.

Germinate:    Three times a year small groups of artists will be offered the opportunity to spend around two weeks somewhere in Wales developing an idea or project which they have already begun working on, and will share their work with a local audience. There will be three Germinate projects a year, one of which will have an international element.

WalesLab is no longer open for new submissions. Have a look at the 'Your Work' page on the NTW website to find out about how to share your ideas with the company.

Videos from day 9. they would be coming quicker but I'm having some problems uploading a few of them.

Ahh, if only we'd thought of that. Maybe next year...

It looks like there's a designated room for the video diaries...have you though of jazzing it up Big Brother style? You know, get a massive gold/neon armadillo style chair. Get some red velvet padded walls. Maybe a disco ball? If you have room in the budget. Just sayin'...

We're a bit behind in uploading these video diaries but here is day eight:

Matt almost reveals that he is a lizard...

Justin is being eaten alive but has realised the importance of conversations

Brent's been distracted...

Beth doesn't know what day it is...

Simon's had a frustrating day...

Hey Geraint what's happened

Yesterday Catrin and I visited WalesLab summer camp. We had a lovely sunny drive up through some beautiful countryside and then spent the afternoon talking to the artists about how we create marketing and press plans, and use social media, to promote theatre shows. We were also shown some great images and trailers the guys had made for their projects, which was really interesting.

We even stayed for dinner and were then treated to the delights of a group viewing of Rocky in the evening. We left straight after breakfast today to come to north Wales and join the Branches cast and crew, but I could happily have stayed and absorbed the creative energy for days!

We're all tearing ourselves apart a bit here, and it makes you think, is there progress in deconstruction? We're not here to present clean, polished, perfect performances, Christina! This is for you! Faith beyond reason! Even if you can't see it, we might, so show us. Also, National Theatre Wales have brought us to the most midgi infested place. My body is a giant insect bite!

Thanks for the blogs - great to hear a little of what you're up to. Tell Simon Holland Roberts to sit his arse down in front of camera - you'd better check there's enough film in it first though!
Keep them coming!
