Clwyd Theatr Cymru Theatre for Young People have supported the Daniel Owen Festival of Literature and the Arts since its inception in 2010, launching a new writing award to celebrate the life of one of Wales’s best known writers, Daniel Owen, of Mold. 04 May 2012
Known as the Dickens of Wales, Daniel Owen was the first Welsh author to write in, and be published in, Welsh. Like Dickens, he also drew inspiration from the local people and places he knew and his characters spoke in their own, everyday, working voices. We want to hear the young voices of today. The theme for this year, celebrating both the 200th Anniversary of Charles Dickens’ Birth and Daniel Owen will be:
VOICES
There is no entry fee and you can enter a Poem or Play Synopsis (with sample scene) or both. You can write in English, Welsh or bi-lingually. For an entry form email: anne.plenderleith@clwyd-theatr-cymru.co.uk.
The short listed entrants will be notified at the end of September. The winner will be announced at The Daniel Owen Festival October 2012 at an awards evening hosted by Clwyd Theatr Cymru. The short-listed works in both categories will be read by professional actors at the awards evening. The overall winner will receive a cash prize and an individual award to keep

nteractive Practioners day for Youth Theatre Artists in Wales.
We are a group of Youth Theatre practioners who have gathered together to look at the needs of the sector in an informal setting. We want to share practice together. The first of these sharings will be hosted at Sherman Cymru on March 3rd from 11am - 5.30pm.
This is an invitation to all professional theatre practioners who would like to offer a workshop for up to 20 participants for 90 minutes. A workshop that can provide people with a practical toolkit that can stimulate and challenge youth theatre practice.
Submissions until gratefully received until Friday February 24th.
