Digital Producers Lab, Wales
I'm absolutely delighted to be announcing the cohort of Digital Producers, who will join Watershed and National Theatre Wales in a new programme that fosters digital talent, and aims to catalyse development of creative technology projects in Wales.
Supported by Arts Council Wales, Watershed’s Digital Producers Lab is the first programme of its kind to take place in the country. It aims to train a brilliant cohort of Digital Producers, who will go on to support each other, create new business opportunities and enable audiences to enjoy extraordinary new cultural experiences.
We’re delighted to announce that the twelve participants are:
- Alison John, Co-founder of yello brick creative marketing agency and Cardiff’s annual PlayARK games festival.
- Tom Rack, Creative Director of NoFit State Circus and recent recipient of a prestigious Creative Wales Award.
- Matt Ball, Freelance theatre maker and until recently, Creative Associate at National Theatre Wales (where he set up WalesLab) prior to joining NTW, Matt was Artistic Director of Camden People's Theatre.
- David Massey, Digital Manager at Welsh National Opera.
- Craig Morrison, Artist and curator of blinc digital festival in Conwy.
- Ruth Lloyd, New to Wales and setting up as a freelance producer, building of ten years of experience gained at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum.
- Lisa Heledd Jones, Director of Storyworks, a fledgling company that presents personal stories creatively, innovatively and appropriately, through short film, digital stories, performance and installation.
- Anne Siegel, Independent filmmaker, events producer and Education & Creative Technology Manager at Ffotogallery in Cardiff.
- Laura Cotton, Development editor for Touchpaper Television and producer of Codi Pais, a comedy-drama series for S4C, to broadcast in early 2015.
- Sarah Jane Leigh, Freelance Arts Producer and Promoter, currently working on good cop bad cop and Chapter Arts Centre's Dylan Thomas 100 project, Teifi Emerald and Acts of Beauty's production WiLD, Buddug James Jones’ production Hiraeth and Youth of Creative Arts’ Project Fio.
- Michael Cousin, Founder and producer of Outcasting and co-founder of Outcasting: Fourth Wall (O:4W), Wales’ first artists’ moving image festival.
- Catryn Ramasut, Founder of ie ie productions, a Cardiff-based production company set up with partner Gruff Rhys in 2006. Prior work included roles within radio, television, print and advertising for BBC Radio 1, Marmalade Magazine and M&C Saatchi.

playARK is an annual two day festival that takes place in Cardiff. It explores playful approaches to learning, living and working now and in the future. The talks feature interesting playful projects (both physical and digital) taking place in the UK and beyond. We are interested in hearing about practices that subvert the norm in some way and push the boundaries of the predefined. The theme of the conference last year was RECLAIMED, looking in particular at story, traditional learning, urban environments, craft/hacking and looking how games and playful experiences exist within these areas.
The games day showcases some of the best talent in street and pervasive games, immersive theatre and interactive projects nationally and internationally.

Hi everyone, I thought this might be of interest to some of you.
Connected Stories
1st April - 3rd April 2014

Connected Stories is a three day workshop event that will be an opportunity for individuals from different disciplines and methodologies to come together to learn, develop and explore what the narrative possibilities are within multiplatform storytelling. During the three days the participants will be taken through a process that will open discussion on transmedia with examples of best practice and lessons learned from leading industry professionals, in addition to inspirational sessions that explore and analyse successful case studies. The programme will also offer important opportunities to connect with others from different work practices to form the beginnings of new and exciting networks.
This short course is intended as an introduction to the world of transmedia and focuses on the idea of knowledge exchange, open experimentation and collaboration between practitioners of different media.

Course Venue:
The course will take place Cardiff Bay (Suite 6, Second Floor, 33 - 35 West Bute Street, CF10 5LH) and there are bursaries available for travel and accommodation for those who are not based within a 55 mile radius of the Cardiff area.
Who should apply?:
The course will offer 20 individuals the opportunity to participate and will be open to applications from creatives, writers, game designers and producers, technologists, linear media producers and directors (theatrical, film/TV and radio) who are interested in working creatively with storytelling and working collaboratively with others from different disciplines.

We’ve been asked to give a little introduction to ourselves here with some links and such. So. Here is a little about me. I am the youngest daughter of a farmer and a physiotherapist (two separate people) and grew up on a fine green hill in North Wales. My work started with a lecture by the photographer Daniel Meadows and I went on to work with him at the BBC and a decade later I started my own company, Storyworks and we work to find the most appropriate ways of unlocking and sharing people’s stories – sometimes in the arts, sometimes in the public and third sector, often somewhere in the middle. I also produce comedy and theatre events. Most recently producing the multiplatform NTW production in Anglesey Things I Forgot I Remembered. I’m currently booking comedy and theatre for a couple of arts festivals. I like to travel on funicular railways and to link things in blogs. This last passion is very recent.

I’m really looking forward to the Digital Producers Lab week in Bristol at Watershed and Pervasive Media. The program and contributors during the week all look really interesting and the participants bring such a wealth and depth of experience I’m sure we are going to have an intensive and inspiring week.
We’ve been asked to blog and tweet as we go and share as much as we can with the wider community so if you’re interested watch this space
As a prologue to what’s to come we are all introducing ourselves to the community and maybe explain why we are taking part
