Hi everyone. I've just taken up the post as Project Associate, which currently means that I'm researching who's out there in the Port Talbot community. If you are part of a group or organisation in Port Talbot and are interested in the Passion proje…

I thought 'Muscle', Greg Cullen, was refreshing - just men on stage no feminist slant (even though I create feminist theatre). 'In My Mouth' a welsh college production was fantastic - site specific at its best. But I have to say my students producti…

I have been meaning to blog about how lovely it was to be in Swansea for Shelf Life, so thanks for prompting me to do so! I am actually from Port Talbot but a large portion of my leisure time as a teenager was spent in the Gower or - mainly - in Ba…

Ooooh - I saw this on the weekend in Bristol and it was fab! Never has the incidental natter of a submariner seemed so exciting! I highly recommend it to sound designers and lighting designers, obviously, this being Sound and Fury!

I got really excited because I thought the sign pictured above said 'The earliest known private chives were discovered at Ugarit'.

Hi, Beth One of the joys of small venues is the way the artists appear afterwards & mix and mingle. When one of the "Two Gents" ran along the row and said "Can you see me?" it was just classic. Years back a Bolivian band was playing the tiny Felin…

Yay! I'm so gald you liked it.. I really loved the energy and the non precious way they treated the text. Ended up spending the evening in Chapter with the company of 3 afterwards and giving them a lift home- they were so lovely as well!!

Guy, my point about the fun runner was that to apply the same level of professional scrutiny in criticsm of a youth theatre show is to judge something unduly harshly and with a set of criteria that don't fit. Of course critical feedback is important…

I don't want to sound hypocritical, because I know that you're on a learning curve yourself, Ben, but your review of Oedipus/ Antigone has left a funny taste in my mouth. In fact, reviewing youth theatre AT ALL kind of leaves a funny taste in my mou…

This is a group to gather support for a project that has received a seed commission from NTW. Julie Barclay is planning to adapt and develop Fresh Apples by Rachel Trezise as a Theatre production.

Hi, Beth I think I was the only person in the whole world who saw in "Brief Encounter" a delicate one act play being murdered. Even if it's Noel Coward someone has to stand up for the playwright. As for your question who saw "Two Gents?" I did- se…

Have come to this thread really late- how interesting to read everyone's favourite pieces... trying to think that far back now! Duet for One- a masterclass in acting by Juliet Stevenson and Henry Goodman. I saw my first Kneehigh production- Brief En…

The Singing Bones

Just walked out of Chapter after having watched the most beautiful show, The Singing Bones by the fabulous and immensely, consummately skilled company The Devil's Violin. It's been such a long time since I have seen a show that moved me like that and in an age where the lists of creatives credited in programmes seems to be getting longer as standard, to see 4 people making an expertly crafted piece of theatre with nothing but their talent was breathtaking and hugely refreshing. It's

Forget theatre critics...

Being ill at home has meant I've spent a lot of time aimlessly surfing the net, and this review of Gerald Tyler's new work, Something's Wrong with Abel, has just brightened up my day:

There can be no better praise than the line 'the shed construction was excellent, and his use of powertools and an axe would make any s… Continue

How is the puppet show going? I hear it is sold out - any chance of acquiring a ticket some how or is there a dress rehearsal it would be possible to attend ?
Don't know if you picked up that on Sunday 7th June we are doing some rehearsed readings of interesting German plays for young people - Klamms war - directed by Caroline Bunce - about a teacher breaking down and ranting at his class of teenagers and a Beckettian play - Visiting Katte and Fredda - about the terrifying nature of friendship !! There will then be a short discussion about German theatre for young people and particularly how writers are supported - Nick wood who I think you may have met in Niottingham is coming as well as Henning Fangauf from germany - whose job is to promote and support german writers - be great if you could come.
