Profile Information

What I do:
Actor , Director, Community Artist
A little more about me:
I have been Artistic Director of Found Arts Limited for the past five years. We are quite a small company but a busy one. As a director I am really interested in found spaces, or what I sometimes like to call site reflective spaces depending on the project. I have been mainly focusing on work which translates cultures through community participation and/ or through the adaptation of international texts into a UK context. Some of this work has seen me as director/ producer of Polish, Russian and Greek plays (and a few short films for Refugee Week). Most of my directing experience has been through developing my own work. However over the past few years I have been engaged by National Theatre of Scotland as Assistant Director on their Latin American programme and more recently with Scottish Refugee Council on A View From Here.
As an actor, I graduated in Scotland, 2001. Professional credits come from working with Glasgow Repertory Company at Bard in the Botanic's, Cumbernauld Theatre, Gappad Theatre, Fablevision, Siege Perilous and Q-Fusion Improv. I would say i'm a character actress with a big voice! I love singing, love movement and love getting stuck into really good texts...a bit of a geek, I suppose.
Other news about me!
I am an acting couch. I have been teaching for 20 years and use the LAMDA syllabus gaining 100% success for students gaining entry into drama school and going through LAMDA External examinations up to Diploma level.
Location:
Grangetown, Cardiff
Projects I’m working on:
I have just recently moved to Cardiff from Glasgow. I was granted a scholarship to do a PHD at Cardiff University , which was unexpected but very exciting indeed. This research project is looking at community engagement/ participation site specific performance in Scotland and Wales … so if you have any projects going on which I could observe??? Please let me know.
I have recently finished directing a performance called Tea and Clay which looks at the creation of art inspired by Assamese contemporary sculpture. This was performed by local in March 2014.
I have just finished directing A View from Here with Scottish Refugee Council which was nominated as “Best Heritage Project “. These bespoke shows were site specific productions with an attached exhibition exposing stories from life living in the High Rise flats of Glasgow which are due to be demolished. The artists involved were incredibly talented and were all previous or current tenants from these flats, some of which were Asylum Seekers who were housed there on arrival to the UK.
