Profile Information

What I do:
Writer, Peformer, Singer, Director , Producer, Film Dabbler, Curator and Academic.
A little more about me:
A bit of Carrie History....

I trained as an Actress in Glasgow where I began my career with Glasgow repertory Company in Bard in the Botanics. Performing Shakespeare as outdoor site specific productions inspired me to by incorporate Theatre Found Limited in 2007. I directed and produced 'found' texts in what I call 'site reflective spaces'. We would adapt plays to the current socio- political climate and fins sites which reflect the feel of the play.

I have worked professionally in theatre and film as a performer and writer for over twenty years.

I am dedicated to using the arts to discuss 'personal responsibility' , 'social justice' and 'human rights' finding previously produced texts and re-contextualizing them to a site -reflective time and space. I am interested in personal testimony and creating text that represents life-stories with the people living their life; sharing their stories in whatever medium they feel is appropriate.

I make short films; theatre, deliver theatre training ( applied drama, improv and acting in site spaces at Cardiff Met and academic sessions on Creative Industries with Cardiff University).

I collaborate with various local and international companies developing site reflective theatre pieces in Cardiff and Glasgow predominantly, however I also work with Teatro Di Nascosto, Italy.

In 2014 I made a documentary on Assamese Storytelling and Theatre. This project was funded by Creative Scotland. The project was implemented to inform a new community performance inspired by Assamese artist Ganesh Gohain's sculpture 'My Table' and Siva Marar's 'Tea Cup' for and with ESOL students at City of Glasgow College and Glasgow Museums RENEW Project.

MI was recently commissioned by BBC Taster to develop and produce an interactive film, based on stories from the Homeless community of Cardiff.
Location:
Cardiff
Projects I’m working on:
I am currently working on several projects with The Republic of the Imagination and tactileBOSCH this year.

With Aleksadra Jones ( The Republic of the Imagination) I am developing a theatre piece on 'Women's voices : Women in Movement'. This piece is bringing together the experiences of migration and the under represented perspectives of women in motion. This motion as a metaphor for the continuous transformation of the female body; the physical and temporal space and emotional life and mind. We are also bringing together a performance / conference at Temple of Peace in April.

With tactileBOSCH I am working on on 'UnderTheCounterCulture', 2018 our co-curatorial project with Blue Honey. We have a series of Night Culture residency events , the first is in collaboration with Experimentica, with Chapter Arts on the 13th April.
