I'm a Cardiff-raised freelance Director and Facilitator, who trained as a performer at Rose Bruford College of Performing Arts. Since graduating I've worked for companies such as The Old Vic, The Royal Shakespeare Company, Theatre Royal Margate, The Kevin Spacey Foundation and West Yorkshire Playhouse. In 2014 I began the annual Primary Players: Shakespeare Festival at West Yorkshire Playhouse which engages with schools from all over Leeds to stage a collaborative Shakespeare production each summer on the main stage. Most recently I worked as Assistant Director on 'The Borrowers' (dir. Amy Leach) at the Sherman Theatre. In 2014 I founded theatre company Wrongsemble (www.wrongsemble.com) which specialises in creating work for family audiences.
Leeds / Cardiff / London
Projects I’m working on:
I wrote and directed Wrongsemble's most recent production 'Three' is touring nationally with Half Moon theatre throughout 2017. We have just announced our two confirmed upcoming productions 'Billy Shakes: Wonder Boy!' and 'The Selfish Giant' (commissioned by Barnsley Civic and The Arc, Stockton) in 2017/18. I am also working for Daft Cow productions to direct a new feminist piece exploring the untold female heroes of our history as yet untitled. I also run weekly youth theatre sessions for ages 5-16.
Now we hear from Prof Ian Hargreaves @CreativeCardiff - should more public bodies follow @NTWtweets approach, eschewing permanent iconic buildings and siting their work in the context of the communities they seek to work for?
