SMASH IT UP - Mr & Mrs Clark at Chapter Arts Centre

February 17, 2016 at 8pm to February 27, 2016 at 9:15pm
Smash It Up is a direct response to the destruction of the Chartist Mural in Newport. But this is not merely about the loss of this popular piece of public art. What has replaced the public land where the mural stood is a private shopping centre with rules and regulations suppressing free expression. In exploring the loss of art and public space Mr and Mrs Clark with the artists Bosch have created an exhibition, a performance lecture, a dance theatre show with documentary and short film. Smash…See More

MIRAMAR at Chapter Arts Centre

June 10, 2015 at 7:30pm to June 13, 2015 at 8:45pm
“We’re renaming the house Miramar. It’s a mixture of our names Miriam and Martin, Mir-a-mar, do you get it?” After the death of her husband, 74 year old Enid is forced to sell the house she’s lived in for most of her life. She watches from her neighbours’ window as the new owners arrive to transform it into their new holiday home. They renovate it, rename it and finally return to the city, leaving the house empty. Enid, now homeless, decides to take matters into her own hands. A darkly funny…See More

SMASH IT UP at The Riverfront Theatre

October 16, 2014 at 7:45pm to October 18, 2014 at 9pm
Mr and Mrs Clark have teamed up with Bosch artists Steven George Jones and Andrew James Rock to explore destruction and primarily destruction in art. With some historical references to cultural cleansing, acknowledgment to destructive artists and some personal insight to the creative process we aim to challenge the audience to question the merit of destroying art and the power of outrage to such damaging acts. With choreography by Catherine Bennett, design by Becky Kemp Davies and mentoring by…See More

Walk - Shop in Newport with Newport International Airspace

It was a Sunday, it was tempestuous weather at times and it was an open and random plan that we had with no idea how long or how far we would walk. Ten mighty brave souls pitched up outside the Westgate Hotel and at 11.15am we followed Marega Palser towards an unknown destination located with in the city.

Marega had given us small stick-on eyes and told us that we should stick them on anything that caught our eye. I have to say that the first half mile took a long time as we all…

Newport International Airspace

We've just started something new in Newport. With the support of Arts Council Wales, National Theatre Wales TEAM and Newport City Council we have begun a new arts collective called Newport International Airspace. It's a name that just stuck with us and it looks good printed across our newly acquired cheque book. N.I.A. was been established off the back of The Meeting, a project procured and produced by local artists keen to change an empty high street space into a pop up arts centre last…

Continuous Cabaret Newport

It was a collectively quick decision. After the Newport Assembly I felt the need to follow it up with something solid, a performance, another opportunity to be part of the day to day life of Newport. Marega, Dino and I had talked over a few beers back in November and felt that if the Assembly was to mean anything we had to be proactive in creating a new liaison. We had just met during the days we spent pulling shapes in the Empty Shop window but there was a nice bubbling feeling after…

Been working in the Wye Valley for the last 3 weeks... it's so beautiful. I'm now trying to consider how to readjust my eyes for the prospect of Maindee next week. The Usk is a grubby tyke in comparison to the magical Wye.
