The production is performed live on Zoom, exploring the advantages, limitations, and comedic value of video calls. Metamorphosis was an experiment for Hijinx in recreating the highly interactive nature of their previous…See More

Profile Information

What I do:
A professional theatre company making provocative, contemporary theatre that tours the world.
A little more about me:
Hijinx productions always include actors with learning disabilities and the ability of these effortlessly talented performers is at the heart of every performance.

This inclusive style of theatre highlights the skills and raw talent of people who are often overlooked in today’s society and provides them with a platform to create and perform stunning theatre alongside actors without disabilities.
Location:
Cardiff
Projects I’m working on:
HIJINX ACADEMIES
Hijinx Academies provide the only professional performance training course in Wales for actors with learning disabilities.

More than 70 actors with a range of impairments including Downs Syndrome, Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome have been trained through academies in Cardiff, Carmarthen, Aberystwyth, and Prestatyn.

HIJINX ACTORS
This accessible casting website represents Hijinx actors to theatre, TV and film industries and enables them to have further employment opportunities and greater financial independence.

HIJINX BUSINESS TRAINING
Specialist communications training is offered to all public-facing staff who regularly encounter learning disabled and other vulnerable customers with communication challenges.

Uniquely it is delivered by learning disabled trainers, supported by a Hijinx facilitator, and is always interactive, energetic and creative. This pioneering approach has earned awards for both clients and Hijinx.

HIJINX UNITY
The Hijinx Unity Festival showcases a remarkable range of international inclusive and disabled performances and is one of the largest inclusive arts festivals in Europe and the only one of its kind in Wales.

HIJINX ODYSSEY
This much loved, non-professional community theatre group sees disabled and non-disabled actors performing together as equal partners. Every year Odyssey produces a Christmas show at Wales Millennium Centre, supported by a professional production team.

Call out for puppeteers in Meet Fred, a Hijinx production in association with Blind Summit.

A cloth puppet fights prejudice every day. Fred just wants to be part of the real world, to get a job and meet a girl, but when threatened with losing his PLA (Puppetry Living Allowance), Fred’s life begins to spiral out of his control.

Meet Fred is an adult theatre show with a puppet as its main character. Performed by a cast of 7: 3…

Hi Ness,

A blog post is definitely a good idea, and I would post about it in the relevant Group to. For this one that's probably the Creatives group, or maybe Producers. Or both! If you pop it on a blog post I can feature it and it will be on the front page for a while then.

Jen
