Profile Information

What I do:
Playwright and writing tutor
A little more about me:
Born and raised in Cardiff, I trained as an actor, but dallied with wrestling and nude underwater modelling before writing science theatre for schools for many years. Since moving back to theatre work my first critical success was ‘The Mysterious Gentleman’ a play incorporating stage magic effects, produced at the Cheltenham Playhouse. I'm currently working on an Arts Council England funded play with music called ‘The Secret Life of Dads’, for the Guildhall in Gloucester. I also won the Writer's Guild award for theatre encouragement for my work with a group of playwrights in Gloucester.
Location:
Gloucester
Projects I’m working on:
'The Secret Life of Dads' is a comedy about growing up.
Three fathers try to escape nappies and nursery rhymes and relive their youth by reforming their old band. There’ll be live music on stage as they get ready for a battle of the bands contest, while dealing with the pressures of being role models for their kids.
Written by award winning playwright Jarek Adams, and created especially for the Guildhall in Gloucester. It’s a comedy about growing up for anyone who’s struggling with that, aged 5 to 105.
With music by George Moorey & Directed by Jilly Breeze

Creating Creative Processes

The title of this could also be 'How I Write, and How I Want to Write'.

My training in college was all about developing work through improvisation over a long period, but that model is an expensive one if you're looking at a professional production, and I do shy away from asking creatives to work for free just to gain experience. But as a writer, building a complete world with characters and a socially relevant story arc all by myself is a tricky thing to do. Over the past few years…
