ImposterMouth Ponderings

IMPOSTERMOUTH PonderingsA few thoughts about ImposterMouth ahead of my short run at Le Pub.ImposterMouth is a spoken word show I have been waiting to make for what feels like ages now. Just sitting on it. Getting parts of it out at various moments for almost every opportunity that may present it's self. At the very first Express Yourself in 2017, at Jeremy Linnell's scratch night SCAB, and then taking Steph Kempson's invitation to perform a version of it at Sharp Teeth at The Wardrobe Theatre,…See More

Profile Information

What I do:
Co-Director of Tin Shed Theatre Co - Theatre Maker - Performer - Workshop Facilitator
A little more about me:
I’m a South Wales based Artist working across multiple forms as an individual, a collaborator and as one half of Tin Shed Theatre Co. Over the past 11 years I have created my own work as well as having developed and performed work in the UK and internationally with; The Bristol Old Vic, National Theatre Wales, Qube Art Gallery, China Plate, Battersea Arts Centre, San Diego Fringe, Alma Alter: Bulgaria, and the Birmingham REP.

My training is in Performance, Directing and Devising Theatre with applied Filmmaking, and through my personal practice I explore philosophy, art, pop-culture and contemporary clowning.

The work I make is absurdist, subversive and often comical, responding to urgent themes that question our human experience/contemporary living.

Most of what I make is semi-autobiographical, with a focus on mental health.

I'm also a freelance workshop facilitator specialising in working with children and young adults exploring their lives through devised theatre making, autobiographical story performance, and creative/experiential learning.
Location:
Newport
Projects I’m working on:
The Suicides Of Brian - An existentialist piece that follows a silent protagonist through day dreams of suicide.

CARPET - With Frank Thomas, is a new Spoken Word performance platform that is looking to readjust peoples viewpoint on 'what' spoken word is, and where is can exist.

STORM.3 - A quick free write

STORM.3 is here.

After a few weeks of deep thinking, honest discussion and some often intense self reflection, the show has arrived.

My objectivity is skewed. As an artist, I entered this process with a certain amount of trepidation. I wasn't sure what this work was going to become, or what it would mean for the audiences that came to view it. Now, I have been on a journey with it; physically, mentally and personally. I have in some sense fallen in love with it.…

NTW STORM 3. DAY 1

Yesterday was the first day of our thoughtful, wordy, adventure in making some responsive reflective performance that will knowingly coincide with Britain's expected departure from Europe.

Working on this project as one of 8 performers, who were all selected for their various skills, voices, approaches and backgrounds in performance, I'm gunna speak only as 1 of that 8.

(1) - 8.

As far as first days go I think each of us entered the room with a certain amount of anxiety…

You're booked in to Dirty, Gifted & Welsh - time is now on the blog.

Please remember to bring enough copies of your script and arrive in plenty of time for your slot.

All the best and good luck!

Hey man, hows things? yeah, all good my end - just starting to get through the 500GB of footage from Wales Lab, cheers for doing loads of video diaries btw - they're really helping me to piece the whole thing back together... What are you working on at the moment?

thanks for a the speedy reply. I am ashamed to say that I have lived in newport for almost 23 years and I have never heard of this place. Ill make it my mission this week though it go and have a look around. Your right btw about there not being a good way to find out whats going on in Newport, it really does need a bit of a kick up the bum. It makes it too easy to gravitate towards Cardiff for all your artistic cravings.
