What I do:

I am a theatre maker, experienced in innovative theatre practices including Physical/dance theatre, spoken word, text based performance, intimate and site responsive/nomadic work. I use my life and the life of those I work with as primary source and starting point for the content of the work. hte form that these works are represented in are inspired by live art and European theatre practice. At present I explore audience receptivity and interaction as core stimulants for the creation of transformative performance experience. I make work that hopes to invite audience in to experience with the performer. That allows work to evolve in the space between the audience and performer. I attempt to make work that crosses cultural, class, economic and ethical divides. I have an archive company and website: Madrugada (madrugada.info) I now make work under the current company name: Unfinished Business. Blog: thisisunfinished.wordpress.com (website under construction). I run this company with co-producer and designer: Anna Smith.

A little more about me:

My thematic preoccupations seem to centre around mental health, healing, celebration, and the socio-political ethics of inclusion, community and socialism. I have made four solo shows covering themes of addiction, escapism, our relationship to the non material and materialism, mourning, ancestry, biography and celebration.

As a freelance director/facilitator I have worked with many different types of people both professionals and non professional, dancers, actors, spoken word artists, elderly people, people on the verge of social exclusion, prisoners, community activists etc.

I have collaborated with artists and companies including: Polarbear, Forest fringe, stoke newington International Airport, the Birmingham rep, the lyric hammersmith, charlie dark, the clod ensemble, lost dog, Chris Redmond, Malika Booker, contact theatre etc

I continue to develop national and international links for the creation and presentation of the companies work.

i am currently developing our new company show: Only Wolves And Lions. in collaboration with: Bradford theatre in the mill and South St arts centre.
I am working as director/mentor for several spoken word artists developing solo shows including; Dzifa Benson, Pete the Temp and giving directorial input to The Poeticat stage show.
