What I do:
Writer/Director/Workshop Leader/Dramaturg - I have been working in Welsh Theatre since 1982. Originally trained as an Actress in London, I began directing when at Theatr Powys, where I became Artistic Director, staying for 11 years. Have since worked freelance as Writer/Director in TV and Theatre. From 2006 - 10 was Associate Director with Hijinx Theatre, working on new plays and script development.
A little more about me:
I have been working with the Lead Creative School's initiative - as both creative agent and practitioner, leading and over-seeing arts projects in schools. I've also been offering different training packages for teachers with A2 Connect. Alongside this work I have been continuing to work as a writer and director - most recently acting as dramaturg and director for PAC's Welsh tour of CRACKED by Emily Hinshelwood. I've continued my work with the Forget-Me-Not Chorus as their writer in residence - most recently working alongside the community chorus on Rhondda Rips it Up and with Alzheimers clients and their carers on Behind the Mask - a new libretto for soloists of the WNO alongside the choir. I've just finished a Writer's Residency at Theatr Clwyd, where I've been developing a new play. I continue to teach at the Welsh College of Music and Drama and to support people in the development of their theatre making ideas.

Currently under commission with Sherman Cymru developing a new play MAUDIE'S ROOMS. Also working in collaboration with Cardiff University/ Sherman Cymru/ W.N.O towards a project exploring ageing - and anti-ageing science. Have recently directed a rehearsed reading of a new play SUPERNOVA by a young writer Dave Lee Smith, who I've been developing along with N.T.W. Hi Louise, Sally Hughes here, I work with Iwan at The Republic of the Imagination and I'm Gerrie Hughes' daughter. We are having an event that I thought you may be interested in and I'd like to send you an invite by email. What's the best email to send it to? My email is sally@troti.org. Look forward to hearing from you.

Warmest

Sally

Hi Lou, I just wanted to thank you again for your inspiration and support during (and before, and after!) my Waleslab R&D week. We couldn't have done it without you! I hope the experiment of working as a 'full time' dramaturg on the project leads to it happening again and again in the future!

I've blogged your poem, because it really shows I think, how the process benefits from the 'inside-outside' eye that you provided :http://community.nationaltheatrewales.org/profiles/blogs/digging-down-r-d-week-before-the-sharing-a-reflection-on-process

diolch yn fawr iawn, iawn

Hi Lou (really enjoyed the show last night. Whole audience did. Very positive responses.)

Just posted this on the NTW site:

Saw the Hijinx Gulliver show last night in Llandrindod Wells. What a very good show. Funny. Entertaining. Moving. Great performances. Lovely concept and writing. Strong and imaginative direction. Excellent design and lighting. A great adventure and a fascinating journey into the human psyche and soul going via madness, creativity, politics, satire, love, paranoia, anxiety and the power of the imagination - all presented with consummate theatrical wit and confidence. A really good night out.

Hi Lou
Sunflowered is a play by Alex Vlahos. We did a rehearsed reading of it at the springboard festival this year. It's a really nice piece. I'll try and get to the show on the 3rd. Hopefully see you then. x
