Resistance

Photo: Michael Sheen from the movie 'RESISTANCE' based on the novel by Owen Sheers.

What can we do as fans of Art, Theatre and Culture against the nefarious decisions of some Governments to cut budgets to Theaters and Museums? We can write blogs? We go into the streets to protest? Someone tell us please!

In Italy the Teatro Valle in Rome in protest, is occupied …

'A Great Emotion'

I feel very involved, almost overwhelmed by this representation, more than I expected. Maybe because in February I lost my mother, I don't know but I'm so emotionally excited by what is happening thousands of miles from me...it's amazing! I can hear from here all your trepidation and excitement for this wonderful job that awaits you. I will work these days, but I'll always be…

'Sheenian Sisters'

I had an idea and I created this group: SHEENIAN SISTERS that brings together the 10 most genuine and biggest Michael Sheen's fans that I met on Twitter! We come from different countries and continents, but we share a love for this wonderful and chameleon-like . Some of us are going to London to see HAMLET, but unfortunately we will not meet.

We are sisters in life and…

'United Artists against the cuts to funding for the Art'

In the photo Michael Sheen as Nero.

Michael Sheen and other distinguished British stage actors have signed a letter to the British Government, to protest against cuts to funding for the Art.

Michael Sheen in the role of Nero would scream as his anger: "Don't you dare!..."...and would be right!

These cuts would hardly allow the survival of local art…

Dearest and Sweet Maria,

My good and true friend, I am taking this opportunity on sweet Michaels’ birthday to thank you from the inner most core of my being for your steadfast encouragement to live my dreams. It was only one on-line statement from you, but words have power Maria, especially written words and those from the heart, and your words hit a cord deep within me and lit a bright and burning desire. And at that moment - almost a year ago now – I knew that my dream was possible.

It would involve hard work, determination and bravery. Since I do not fear hard work, have the capacity to turn stubborn hard-headedness into determination and am at times either brave or, rather; crazy; I asked my self, “Why not? Why not!!”

The plotting and planning began and through out I gained a wonderful friend; a friend who I do not write to often enough and love dearly. Maria you will always have a special corner of my heart reserved for you and you alone. Thank you for your encouragement and for lighting a fire of “passion” in my heart. If it was not for you this lonely American girl would have never asked herself, “Why not?”. She would have never bought tickets to see Hamlet in London, England. She would have never met sweet Michael Sheen. And oh, my stars, he was sweet, Maria, he truly was.

He was so drained after his performances, but he spared time for me on four out of the five nights I was at Hamlet. The one night I did not see him he was trying to get home to Wales to be with his family for Christmas and it turned out that he was also getting a terrible cold. Some nights I could see that he was so tired, but still when he saw me he would smile; it warmed my heart.

He was so accommodating, he signed everything I brought for him to sign, my DVD covers of “Underworld: Rise of the Lycans”, “Dirty, Filthy, Love” and “Heartlands”. He signed the CD covers I brought – “Oedipus the King” and a BBC production of “Hamlet” – he also signed my Hamlet program from the play at the Young Vic. I got to take a picture with him and show him a picture of a pumpkin that I carved for Halloween 2011 depicting the Welsh Dragon, the smile on his face when he recognized what it was, was absolutely priceless. I got well wishes for a safe return journey home and hugs; they were priceless too - like you, Maria, priceless.

So in my long hiatuses from Twitter and keeping in touch with you, Maria; sweet Maria please know and remember how dear you are and very much you mean to me.

Thank you Maria, for believing in someone you never met and didn’t know; for believing in me when I did not believe in myself. Michael would be proud of how you take to heart and live the attributes, qualities and compassion for your fellow man that he is trying to teach us all though his “Passion” play. I love you.

Forever Your Friend,

Gwendalyn
