Help shape the future of TEAM!

As Development Associate here at NTW, I am responsible for working with our wonderful creatives to make the case for our programs to funders and donors. At the moment I am working with Devinda and Laura to look at the future of funding for TEAM and how to propose TEAM's diverse and dynamic offerings to major partners. It has become apparent through this process that we need to conduct some further formal consultation with our stakeholders. This means TEAM members, non-TEAM members, community…See More

The Good Earth at Chapter Arts Centre

September 9, 2015 at 7:30pm to September 12, 2015 at 9:30pm
A new Welsh story about fighting for community. How would you feel if an outsider came to the village your family had lived in for generations and told you all to leave? Nestled deep in the Welsh Valleys, The Good Earth is an explosive new protest inspired by true events. The action unfolds through physical theatre, rousing Welsh folk song and new writing, bringing to life a valley torn apart by their council, big business and eventually themselves. **** “Explosive” Western Mail “A little…See More

Profile Information

What I do:
Arts & Culture Projects Manager at University of Bedfordshire, previously Development Associate (Grants) at NTW
A little more about me:
I am an arts manager from Melbourne, Australia passionate about participatory theatre that engages and connects communities. I believe in arts access for all, including those from outside of our capital cities, youth, and those with disabilities.
I started out as a performing arts manager and now I find myself reading and writing about town planning, urban design and housing policy and looking at the big picture of cultural policy, the interconnectedness of the creative industries and the ways in which we, as artists, can facilitate change on multiple levels.
I work in partnership with a range of organisations to deliver arts projects that make a difference to people and communities. I am an Arts Manager with significant experience in performing arts higher education, regional and rural touring, and arts advocacy and development. I am passionate about the ways in which the arts can be used to develop communities, create place and enable cross-cultural exchange.
I am inspired by physical and interdisciplinary theatre, and theatre encouraging an actively participating audience and/or theatre using alternative and site-specific spaces.
Location:
Luton, UK
Projects I’m working on:
TestBeds: an Arts Impact Accelerator that is informed by current entrepreneurship practices in the commercial start-up and technology industries. By immersing artists and creative practitioners in a University-led hothouse for creative innovation, practitioners will be pushed to consider the social, economic, environmental and technological contexts that impact their work. Ideas incubation, partnership creation and business skills-development pushes artists to consider their practice in entrepreneurial contexts and fosters new creative businesses.

Artists will explore their practice in the context of the placemaker in Luton: examining how their work can help shape and define this super-diverse town. testbeds will position Luton as the centre for the creative industries in Bedfordshire. It will cultivate a thriving economy in Luton and enable artists to build successful creative enterprises that benefit Luton economically, creatively and socially.

testbeds brings choreographers, musicians, designers, theatre-makers, visual artists and writers together in a collaborative incubator for arts innovation. Artists of all backgrounds will significantly increase their capacity to affect real change on the community of Luton and work as placemakers, global citizens and catalyst for change.

Wellbeing and Sustainability

It is Green Week this week at NTW. We are looking out for the planet, ourselves, our economy and our fellow conscious-beings. This of course doesn't mean that we usually treat these things with disrespect, however this week we are making more conscious choices in these areas with the view that many of them will stick with us and become long-term changes that benefit all of us.

So far one very simple thing that we have done is change all of our waste bins at our desks to…
