To introduce myself I would like to share a vignette written a couple of years ago. 'The Sea' is about the differences between pure language and meaning. A young boy discovers a love of poetry and rejects religion, wrapped around Matthew Arnold's poem 'On Dover Beach'.

The Sea - Stage Version.doc

The following is a very raw piece created recently as part of my course but gives an insight into the type of intense work I am interested in producing.

Last Breath, Written by Tom Wentworth, for the University of Glamorgan is an exploration of a father leaving home through cartoons.

My TEAM Journey

My TEAM Journey

One of the problems (and also the joys) of being a TEAM member is that the concept of TEAM is very hard to 'pitch' or describe to another person. TEAM is a fantastic thing - and as many readers will know I can enthuse at length - but a strangers next question will often be: 'So, what is TEAM?' And then I'm stumped. It is so many different things to so many different and diverse people - and as Chair of TEAM Panel, I feel that it is my job to champion and celebrate… Continue

Critical Chinwag Review - Light Waves Dark Skies

I was delighted to host the Critical Chinwag for We Made This' production of Light Waves Dark Skies, especially as it was originally supported by WalesLab. The piece has really developed under Matt Ball's direction but is very much a collaborative piece, made through devising.

The play is centred around the idea of light. Light in the extreme (such as the stars), light in the everyday (such a torch or lights in the home) and light in the minutiae (light from screens such as the iPad… Continue

Hello from the Chair of TEAM Panel

Hello!

Welcome to my first blog (of many, I hope!) as Chair of TEAM Panel.

TEAM Panel is a group of TEAM members - from all sorts of artistic disciplines and a diverse range of backgrounds - who together help to shape the way that TEAM is run and how it plays its part within National Theatre Wales. It's very exciting to be part of such an energetic and enthusiastic group of individuals who all very much enjoy being part of TEAM.

I am a playwright and have been a… Continue

Hello! It's that time again... Yes, it's Critical Chinwag! So do come and join me for TEAM's always popular social and review event.

This time I'm very excited to be hosting the Critical Chinwag for We Made This' production Light Waves Dark Skies.

Light Waves Dark Skies is a new work by We Made This, exploring the beauty and power of light and water, and our place in the universe amongst the stars.

Nice to meet you too Tom. Let me know how you're getting on with 'In Water I'm Weightless' and with developing your radio play. I'm working on a radio play too as well as poetry - my new book will be launched on 15th Sept at Oriel Davies Gallery Newtown. Kaite says she'll read with me, so does Rosie Bailey who was at Morville. Nadia sounded interested in coming so maybe you could travel over with her if you're in Bridgenorth at that time?

All the best,

Chris

Hi Tom I am an Arts Officer in Bridgend, wondered if you would be interested in the project below ?
Thanks
Guy

Are you aged 16 – 25? Could you create a must-read review of theatre or music? Co-ordinated by Bridgend County Borough Council’s Arts and Community Development, the Young Critics’ Scheme aims to develop and showcase the critical voices of young people and encourage them to think critically about the theatrical or musical productions they have seen.

Organised in partnership with the National Theatre of Wales and Academi, one of the National Theatre Wales’ new critics and ex-editor of Buzz magazine, Ben Bryant, will mentor and run workshop sessions to encourage participants to write and explore the role of the art critic, coming up with different ways to respond to theatre and live art including using Face Book, Vimeo and Twitter.

Throughout the coming months, the young critics will be encouraged to write a number of theatrical and musical reviews, beginning with a review of the National Theatre’s Wales production of ‘Love Steals us from Loneliness’ by Gary Owen, which will be performed in Hobos, Bridgend in October.

To get involved in this exciting new project, please call Bridgend County Borough Council’s Arts Project officer Guy O’Donnell, on (01656) 642727, or email: arts@bridgend.gov.uk.
