A Letter in Support of Creativity

I composed this a while ago for a writing brief and thought some fellow NTWCommunity members and other visitors may be interested in reading it. Hopefully many productions by NTW and its members this year will become physical evidence to support my case. Enjoy!

Dear Child of the Future,

Never stop playing.

Never let someone tell you that the stories inside your head, the tales that you enact with dolls or action figures, are ridiculous. Your creation is…

The Possible Theatre Collective

Last year I wrote a blog post called Manifesto for a Reimagined World.  I had spent the earlier part of the year working on a production of Julius Caesar that I directed.  I wanted to get people engaged, through that play, with the political process. Not in a party political way or over specific issues, but simply engaged.  To make them see that politics and the way in which a country is run, is important to everyone in that country.  I believe that we cannot ignore culture when it comes to…

Choir Leader needed for new 'Singles' choir!

I've been contacted by a friend and colleague and asked to lead a singles choir on a Friday night at Chapter. This sounds like great fun! Unfortunately this clashes with a regular commitment.

If anyone out there is interested in this (paid) role - get in touch with me in the first instance and I'll pass on your details.

Many thanks

Tim

Butetown Residency - De Gabay

Well, we are in to our second week of being 'resident' in Butetown so if 30 Castle Arcade is too far or imposing to come in and say hello then do drop in to the Cardiff City Housing Association building on Loudoun Square -  we are on the first floor in the Media Suite (there is tea, cake and biscuits!).  Tomorrow might be good as I am thinking of baking some muffins - the Team meeting in the morning may eat most of them but there should be some left. Or there is always Togayo restaurant - I…

Corpses, nudity, Jack The Ripper and sequins galore

Last night, I was at the most amazing show - so visually rich with an incredible score to accompany an epic and distressing storyline about the most amoral of women.

There were film references galore (Alice In Wonderland; Clockwork Orange; Psycho; to name a few) and the production itself was costumed and lit in every shade, from monochrome to technicolour. An absolute feast for the eyes with a cracking set. It had animal heads, corpses, nudity, Jack The…

Two Spoons

My first play!

It's based around the story of Yerma, a play by Frederico Garcia Lorca and is about a young woman called Yerma (in Spanish the name means Barren) who cannot conceive a child. Her incapabilities are subject to idle gossip in her community and she is ostracised due to her lack of womanhood. The play also circulates around the cuts made by the Welsh Government in 2010-2012 to IVF treatment clinics, results in many couple having to fork out huge amounts of money…
