Hello Summercampers

I had some technical difficulties so instead of getting my knickers in a twist about it I thought I'd introduce myself using the plain old written word.

I'm a writer who is wanting to explore new ways of working and new collaborations. My only theatre-writing experience so far is a short script for a Dirty Protest event, but I have an idea for a large scale site-specific theatre piece. However it's very vague at the moment and since I found out I was coming on Summercamp I've left it…

AS YOU LIKE IT Review Taking Flight Theatre Company Cyfarthfa Park, Merthyr 20 June 2014

What was the fascination of this production that brought the author of this review near to tears at its final curtain call? I use the term ‘curtain call’ metaphorically as the stage was promenaded through one of the most picturesque arenas in the Merthyr Valley, Cyfarthfa Park. Was it this environment that worked its magic to send me into…

dear summer campers

hi summercampers!

I just made you a lovely little video in my greenhouse in Mountain Ash but can't upload in the way I hoped so I'm letting that go right now and instead leaving the handwritten questions (posed by Simon) that I pegged up to the roof, a tomato plant and a bucket and spade to continue to percolate over the coming weeks!:

who you are and where you are coming from?

precious things/people/places you'll leave behind?

and…

Performer for Blysh Commission

Hi all,

We are looking for a physical performer/dancer for our Blysh Commission piece, Meet the Lupivarians, at the Millennium Centre this July. It's an exuberant new piece based on the story of some multi-limbed birdinsectaliens and their wranglings with overenthusiastic amateur entomologist Peter Potts. Experience of interactive/immersive performance would be lovely but not compulsory. And we'll pay you too.

Get in touch if you'd like to know more. Either on…

You could not find a more beautiful location for Gwyl Lenyddiaeth than Dinefwr near Llandeilo. Set in the heartland of myths and legends with white cattle and a very special castle It was a  perfect Midsummer night’s dream weekend.

Everyman's Equus: Horses for Courses. Review by Response Team Critic Leslie R. Herman Jones

Peter Shaffer’s Equus opened at the National Theatre in London in 1973 and came to Broadway in 1974. Anthony Hopkins played Martin Dysart; Thomas Hulce played Alan Strang.  I was in the audience. It was on at a conventional Broadway space, the Plymouth Theatre on W45St, but unconventionally for the time, there were a few rows of seats on the stage, to bring the audience closer to the action, and there we sat – on a Year 10 school trip.  Hopkins and Hulce, in this profoundly…

WalesLab Summer Camp Introduction Christina.

If they should ever ask you where I’m coming from, just tell them that ‘there’ they speak a language that’s different to this one.

And that when I say that I don’t just mean the words or the melody, which sounds like music to me.

That ‘there’ the wind messes up your hair and the level country carries the sound waves of the…
