My family and WWI

Whilst I don't think he fought at Mametz Wood, my Great Grandfather Stephen Jones fought in WWI at Gallipoli and was taken prisoner at some point. We know that he fought with the South Wales Borderers, who did feature at the Battle of Mametz Wood.

Unfortunately, we don't have his records, as it is believed they were destroyed during the Blitz when an enormous amount of WWI records were lost. I would love to know more about him, as sadly he died when my grandmother was very young and…

Scala Film Academy

Great news that the Thursday night Creative Surgery Film Club has been re-launched at the Scala Cinema Prestatyn as the Scala Film Academy.  Can't find any links as yet but will post when I can.  Most of Film Team's members started there at the Young Filmmakers Group in 2010 with Euan Miller, then aged 9, now the veteran "attendee"  (see earlier blog posts).  It's a fantastic opportunity for all the young filmmakers who attend, with access to one of the finest digital…

First days of rehearsal for August012 as Assistant Director

Currently feeling very young and inexperienced.

I haven't even graduated from my final year of University and I'm already working on a professional production as the Assistant Director. These first couple of days have been a chance for me to settle in and get used to the working environment and the way that everyone works.

Thankfully, I really like the play and can't wait to work on it more. It is entirely insane, with so many different characters and only four actors, which…

AcouChristo - Artist In Residence.

Hello Everyone,

I've done my day in the NTW office and would like to share with you the end results if you don't mind.....no?...well ok then...

My day revolved around a lot of recording sounds from around the office of which I had help from some of the team such as Gavin, Michelle, Kathryn and Hannah. We built up a big bank of sounds that I then speedily turned in to loops and set up a session in Ableton Live for the team to have a go at manipulating and playing…

To Rik

Yesterday was pretty awful.

Upon hearing the news that Rik Mayall had died I was heart broken. He truly was my biggest hero.

Not knowing quite what to do about attempting to morn the death of someone I'd never met, I wrote this blog: TO RIK

Today I've bought the papers and read the obituaries. My favourite being Caitlin Moran's tribute to him in: …

Urgent Volunteers Needed to Create a Wondrous World for Beneath the streets

We urgently need volunteers, particularly people with design experience (although not essentially as we need lots of pairs of hands to help too), Wednesday (tomorrow) and/or Thursday to help create a wondrous world where lost memories, umbrellas, loved ones and spectacles congregate for Beneath the streets - the culmination of our Residency with Punchdrunk Enrichment.

The meeting place is the Tabernacl Chapel - opposite John Lewis - on…
