I've just found something cool

Title says it all.

I've just found something cool. It's a website called Cowbird .

A global storytelling website where people share their stories! True or fictional, cool photos, nicely designed. Just cool. And you can see the stories by either location, topic, people or at random.

They've done some great work with Pine Ridge Community where they have been able to share the variety of incredible stories…

Boat Building in Cardiff - Where do you feel the most free?

Yesterday afternoon me and three TEAM members took to the streets of Cardiff, armed with paper boats, a paddling pool and marker pens.

We asked people in the street to think about where they felt most free, to coincide with the opening week of 'In Water I'm Weightless'. The question come from Sophie Stone a performer from IWIW, as a response from the show.

Here are some photos of us building boats in NTW office…

De Gabay Project Updates

Hi Everyone

Just a quick Blog to update a visit that we had from Jonathan Holmes and his assistant Lucy who together are directing the National Theatre Wales De Gabay project which is a site specific project focusing on the Community of Butetown and on the Somali Community  in particular. As always it was a pleasure meeting with Jonathan and Lucy  and we had the opportunity  to hear the vision that Jonathan and Lucy  has for the De Gabay Project, this was also an opportunity for the…

Wyn Jones

As you may be aware Wyn Jones, a member of this community, passed away unexpectedly at the end of last week.

Wyn was a leading figure in the technical theatre community in Wales and he encouraged and supported many fledgling careers.  Wyn had just left Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru where he was Technical and Operations Manager for some years and he was returning to freelance work.

I met Wyn for the first time in October when he made a point of welcoming me to the country and to the…

This is one of the highlights of the 2012 Fest for me - at 8.12am on Friday everyone in the united nations of Britain (we should be called that, shouldn't we, much better than being a United Kingdom) is invited to ring a bell, any bell, for 3 minutes. It's the v simple gorgeous idea of Martin Creed and you can share your images and stories on his site: http://www.allthebells.com/

I have had so much fun with everyone , going to see some rehearsals , sitting and being nosey in some production meetings ( and have to say the shows are looking great ) having meetings and one- to- ones with some of the team to get a closer insights on what they do has really opened my mind into theatre and i have learnt that there is more to theatre than the actors but that there is a lot of work that has to be done months and months…

"C'laen ta!"- taking theatre to people's doorsteps

I've just got back to Cardiff after an intense six weeks of creating and directing a piece of promenade theatre on the council estate of Peblig in Caernarfon for Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru.

I had three main aims for this project-

1- I wanted the residents of the estate to be an integral part of the production.

2- I wanted the production to fit onto the estate organically and not be plonked on artificially.

3- I wanted it to be…

Let me introduce you my father.

Going through my archive, looking for a picture I might have lost, I came across this posthumous portrait of my father which I made few years ago, just before my house was emptied.

The painting was made by my uncle, Jose Luis Cano, a recognized artist from where I am coming from and good friend of him.  Also, my mother’s brother who…
