Life in a Small-Scale Theatre Company...The Chimes

We have just returned from Llanfechain, right on the border between Oswestry and Welshpool. What a wonderful village hall it is. We had a great reception in a hall as the village was playing football on the pitch next door. The community has pitched together to raise the money to save and re-develop the hall and what a great job they've done. The community flocked to support the show and The Chimes was played to a packed house filled with the villagers from 8 to 80 years of age. Thank you.…

The afternoon allowed various people to deliver 3 minute presentations about issues allowing or inhibiting their right to artistic freedom of expression. The topics covered were vast and important – too much to fully cover in one afternoon. The opening speech was made by Meltem Arikan, a Turkish…

What is Welshness to you? Beth yw Cymreictod i chi?

Greetings/cyfarchion. I'm doing some research for a potential NTW project and would love to put a question out there. What is Welshness? What, for you, is the meaning or definition or essence of being Welsh or living in Wales? I'm not looking for paragraphs. Just a few words. Even one word, in either language. One pal whom I asked said simply "an albatross". Someone else said "Knowing the meaning of hiraeth". What's your answer? All contributions extremely welcome, and very liable to end up…
