Joseph and his Amazing Technicoloured Dream Coat

Although this is not the first production I have produced, I constantly feel like I am coming up against new challenges- this is mostly to do with rehearsing the 30 strong cast of children aged 3- 15 years. How do you get 3 and 4 year olds to get onto stage, dance across the stage and exit at the right time whilst also ensuring they are in the correct costume, do not trip over the set, do not fall off the stage, and ensure the principles (aged 9 years+)  continue to sing and dance…

Rhossili Blog: Lost.Found.Stolen

I’ve recently spent 3 days down in beautiful Rhosilli with Matt Ball working on Lost. Found. Stolen. It was an interesting three days and things seem a bit clearer now on reflection. We spent the time being quite ruthless with the text and what worked and what didn't. We then recorded the fragments that we were happy with and played around with other elements such as music, objects and mapping out chronologically the structure.

We played the game of life .. and I lost!…

Haverfordwest TEAM event - 'Home is.....'

On Tuesday the 27th the Bristol Trader opened its doors to local performers and artists. As part of the TEAM events the evening saw a full host of acts from storytelling to clowning with some music thrown in for good measure. There was also work by local artist Sophie Wordsworth as part of the Spirit of enterprise gallery. The evening began with local storytellers telling tales about their childhood and classic stories. The stage was then overtaken by a clown who proceeded to attempt  to…

DEC/05/12 - ALTERNATIVE-CHRISTMAS-JINGLE-KICKS

Todays Blog

"This year I will be seeking out some alternative Christmas entertainment, as I'd rather hack my arm off with a rusty chainsaw than sit through any kind of Pantomime - I'm a f**king snob and I don't care, maybe when I have kids I wont be... Although I'll be DAMNED if I'm taking my kids to a Pantomime! I'm joking... It's great... I love…

Kosovo Blog

I've spent the last few minutes scraping mud off most of the left hand side of my body - victim of the potholes of Pristina as I made my way through wet snow (Welsh weather my hosts boast) from the National Theatre of Kosovo to Hotel Begolli.  I shouldn't only blame the Kosovan department of road upkeep (or the various armies that have attacked the streets of Pristina over the years), as a night spent sitting in Istanbul airport (where they do a damn fine breakfast at 3am GMT) probably…

DEC/04/12 - Life Measured In Moments

"Last night my Mum woke me up at 2.45am and asked me to help her look for her keys. As she woke me abruptly, she explained paramedics had just done the same to her. They called her mobile explaining that my Gran had pushed her alarm and they'd been trying to gain access to her house for nearly an hour with no answer. I don't think I've been that struck with that much panic in..."
