My first ever blog!

Hello everyone.

I feel somewhat of a dinosaur given that this is my first ever blog. I'm not one for embracing technology too easily, always thinking it's beyond me and then once I try it, realizing its not so bad after all. So this is my try-out, but what to put in it?

There's been a lot to think about since meeting some of the artists involved in Soul Exchange on Saturday in Manchester. Lots of words and pictures in my head but how it will all…

And So It Begins

It was good to meet up with everyone in Manchester yesterday to talk about NTW10. Really looking forward to see what we will create for the Butetown show. Mad to think that at the beginning of the year I had never seen any kind of theatre and now I'll be involved in this production. I think we are going to produce that everyone involved, including the Butetown Community, can be proud of. Here are a few links that people may find interesting.

This is a short documentary…

Wales and Brazil

It's an exiting time at National Theatre Wales, not only because our first shows are around the corner, but because of an exchange we are taking part in with artists from Brazil.

Following on from our Soul Exchange Workshop earlier this month where young creative leaders from Contact in Manchester shared ideas and experience with their counterparts from Butetown in Cardiff we are really pleased to be sending… Continue

Hey everyone!

Kelly from Manchester here.

I'm just about to leave Cardiff after a wonderful weekend with Bute town artists.

In the sessions we got to know about the community of Bute town through creative exercises which had us speaking to the people on the streets of Cardiff, and also through conversations over lunch.

It is a personal belief of mine that the best way to get to know a group of people is over a meal so we HAD to give Pizza express a visit… Continue

HATCHING. MATCHING. DISPATCHING

This is William Neil (Billyo) and his son Darren Neil.

Here I am on my third visit to Cardiff and to Butetown. I'm on a journey to find The Packet pub. I was told by a taxi driver that I would find some old people there with some old school stories about Butetown and Tiger Bay. Someone gave me the wrong directions but I suppose there's no…

Here's a rehearsal in Butetown's Coal Exchange for SWICA's "Here Be Dragons" which we were lucky enough to be allowed in to see. Thanks to Steve Fletcher!

I have also posted this in the SOUL EXCHANGE group. Join NTW10 to keep in touch with developments on the Soul Exchange production!
