Life in a Small-Scale Theatre Company...On Scarborough Front

We have started our autumn schools project now.

On Scarborough Front is a beautiful chamber piece about Wilfred Owen and his time in the Clarence Gardens Hotel in Scarborough before returning to the front in 1918. Written by Stuart Fortey and with music specially composed by Andrew Griffiths, we perform the piece in secondary schools all over Swansea and the district, followed by a Q&A. Life in a Small-Scale Theatre Company...Brief Encounters

So, we're back! 18,000 miles, 3 countries, 2 airlines, over 1,000 audience members at 8 shows, 650 students in 13 workshops and schools' shows, work in English, Welsh and Spanish, 8 lbs of beef, and 30 (ish!) bottles of red wine. A great experience: thanks to everyone that made it possible; all of our friends - old and new - in South America and Wales Arts International.

Now it's back to a house move and On Scarborough Front in Swansea schools in November...As Myrtle…

Chile is a fabulous country; it's been great to be here.

On Monday, we are off to Patagonia...time to enjoy the weekend...…

Life in a Small-Scale Theatre Company - Brief Encounters (South America)

What a great day we had yesterday. Firstly, we had a fab Shakespeare workshop at the Anglo Institute in Montevideo. The commitment, hard work and sense of fun shown by these participants, working in their second language was fabulous. In the evening, we had a lovely, appreciative audience at the theatre for the shows, and in between...the small matter of a…

Life in a Small-Scale Theatre Company...Brief Encounters

This review of Brief Encounters was published in the South Wales Evening Post on September 18th.

Brief Encounters, Dylan Thomas Theatre.

Geraint Thomas.

Lovers of great theatre were given a brief taste of the genius of Noel Coward in this excellent one-night only production of Swansea-based Lighthouse Theatre at the Dylan Thomas Theatre.

Two one-act plays exploring the coming together of hearts, Mild Oats and Still Life, were…

Life in a Small-Scale Theatre Company...Return Journey returns

Last week, we re-staged our highly acclaimed promenade production of Return Journey on the streets of Swansea for the Vassar College Alumnae Travel Program, culminating in a visit to the Dylan Thomas Birthplace. It was great to be back on the streets, and we hope to reprise the piece in a number of different guises soon. Kev and Ed were right back in the groove, and we welcomed newbies Sonia and Louisa Lorey who fell into it. As though to the manner born! And you know what - 'Swansea…

Life in a Small-Scale Theatre Company...Life Cycle Of The Bay

Today has been one of those days when you love what you do.

The weather was fantastic and the cycle path from Blackpill to Mumbles Head was packed. The cyclists who came with us on the journey were great and on top of that the passers-by who stopped to listen to the history of the Mumbles Railway were all encapsulated by the story of the railtrack.

The world loves stories and this is a great one, and what's better is that it was great to add to it.

Many thanks to…

Life in a Small-Scale Theatre Company...Life Cycle of the Bay

We spent yesterday working on one of our..stranger..projects...

Life Cycle of the Bay is a play on bicycles. We start at the Junction Cafe in Blackpill and cycle down to the Pier in Mumbles. Stopping on the way, we bump into characters from Swansea history, who might have used the Mumbles Railway..

It's strange but it's great fun and the team have been working really hard to put it together.

We've got three performances on the 19th July at 11.30, 1.30 and 3.30. Come…

We are looking for a pianist to accompany our forthcoming tour of Brief Encounters - a double bill of Noel Coward's plays Still Life and Mild Oats. We will be rehearsing in Pontardawe from the 1st September and open there on the 10th. Life in a Small-Scale Theatre Company...Life Cycle of the Bay/ June 13th

Over the last few weeks, we have been working on a great project with Sustrans Cymru, called Party on the Path.

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the organisation and the creation of the Swansea Bay Cycle Path, we are presenting a new show on bikes about the history of the Mumbles Railway and the Bay, called Life Cycle of the Bay.

It's part of a big day of bike-based activities around the Watersports Cafe on the Oystermouth Road (opposite St. Helen's) - it would be great to…
