24. INT. NIGHT. TELEVISION ROOM

CLEM, MUSTAFA, BAG ED and WESLEY sit together; ELIJAH enters the room he looks around

ELIJAH

            Where’s Dewi gone?

CORRIDOR

DEWI walks down the corridor, the door to room 2 is open, he enters.

25. INT. NIGHT ROOM 2

DEWI’S eyes scour the room, he sees the BROWN PAPER BAG on the bed. Licking his lips, he walks over and picks up the BROWN PAPER BAG his eyes full of expectation.

ELIJAH

(Heard only)

            I’ll take that thank you.

DEWI is startled, he turns around.

ELIJAH stands in the door way

DEWI

The door was open; I was after a tea bag.

ELIJAH

Got a kettle now or was you just going to

            take one.

DEWI

What…no. No I’m not like that, well I am.

But no I wasn’t, I use the hot water from

the taps, like a geezer, when I make tea,

            saves on the electricity…honest.

ELIJAH clicks his fingers and points at the BROWN PAPER BAG

ELIJAH

            Give me that bag.

DEWI reluctantly hands the BROWN PAPER BAG over.

ELIJAH

Go back to the television room, I’ll deal

with you after the police officer has spoken

            with you.

DEWI leaves the room; ELIJAH looks around the room before leaving the room himself.

26. INT. NIGHT. TOLIET

DEWI stands by the sink running the hot water tap until it beings to steam, he takes an old dirty mug from the pocket of his donkey jacket and places a used tea bag into it; DEWI then gulps down the tea which spills down his chin. After downing the drink he sighs with satisfaction, before wiping his mouth dry. He then places both mug and tea bag back into his pocket.

27. INT. NIGHT. RECEPTION AREA

ELIJAH looks into the reception to see WESLEY talking and the POLICE OFFICER taking notes.

ELIJAH looks into the television room

TELEVISON ROOM

CLEM, MUSTAFA and BAG ED look back at him.

RECEPTION AREA

ELIJAH notices the main door is slightly open and he makes his way over and goes outside.

28. EXT .NIGHT. STREET-SALVATION HOUSE

ELIJAH hurriedly makes his way down the path stopping to look the distance of the street; both left and right; everywhere is deserted.

ELIJAH

            Shit.

ELIJAH makes his way back towards the main doors pausing; he raises the BROWN PAPER BAG and ponders.

29. INT. NIGHT TELEVISON ROOM-SALAVTION HOUSE

POLICE OFFICER, BAG ED, MUSTAFA, WESLEY and CLEM are sitting around.

ELIJAH enters the room placing the BROWN BAG on a chair

ELIJAH

Has anyone seen Doc, has he gone out?

POLICE OFFICER

            He’s gone for a stroll

MUSTAFA

            To the local discothèque

CLEM

I opened the door it’s not a prison, he can

go if he wants too. It’s not healthy for

him to penned up in this place.

ELIJAH

This isn’t about how you feel Clem. Doc

is vulnerable person, he really hasn’t

got the coping skills to be out and about

unsupported at this time of night.

CLEM

And why is that then, I’ll tell you why

because he’s cooked up in here. Food cooked

topped up with pills, no life skills.

ELIIJAH

That’s always been his choice, Doc is not

a well man, if you haven’t noticed.

CLEM

            Then he shouldn’t be here.

MUSTAFA

Well he’s not is he, he’ll be rattling

about on the dance floor in that suit from

            the seventies.

POLICE MAN

I can call it in for you, tell my colleagues

to keep an eye open for him

ELIJAH

If you would, I’d appreciate that.

ELIJAH leaves the room followed by POLICE OFFICER

WESLEY

That fucking Elijah gets on my tits man,

the way he speaks down to people.

BAG ED

You’d think he was in charge.

MUSTAFA

He is, Bag Ed; dick Ed would be a more

            apt name for you.

BAG ED

            What does apt mean.

CLEM

            Appropriate, suitable, fitting…right

30. INT. NIGHT. RECEPTION

ELIJAH is sitting cleaning his TUBA the POLICE OFFICER is on radio.

POLICE OFFICER

            Well that’s called in.

ELIJAH

Who else have you got left to question?

POLICE OFFICER

Err… Clem, Murat Malas and Dewi… What’s his

            story by the way.

ELIJAH

            Who Dewi?

POLICE OFFICER

            No; that Clem character.

ELIJAH

He’s angry, got some issues with the system.

POLICE OFFICER

            Really why’s that?

ELIJAH

Oh something that happened… a long time ago.

POLICE OFFICER

I do have right to know as I will be alone

            with him taking a statement.

                   ELIJAH

         It is confidential…                                    POLICE OFFICER

I can always radio in and find

                                             out.

ELIJAH

Well, when Clem was nineteen, he was

convicted of murder, thing is… he didn’t do

            it or so he says.

                                                                      POLICE OFFICER

           Everyone maintains their innocence...what

           do you think?

CLEM appears at the reception window he is holding the BROWN BAG, ELIJAH catches site of him. CLEM shakes conceals the BROWN BAG shakes his head putting his hood back up and walks upstairs.

ELIJAH

I’ll go and get him I don’t want him upset

there’s been enough going on tonight as it is

ELIJAH still holding his TUBA leaves the reception room.

31. INT. NIGHT. ROOM 40 FIRST FLOOR

CORRIDOR

ELIJAH knocks at room 40, he knocks again; placing the tuba on the floor he takes the keys from his pocket places them in the door and pauses.

ELIJAH

Clem, Clem. Are you okay? I won’t come in

if you just let me know your okay.

ROOM 40

CLEM looks at the door waiting for it to open.

ELIJAH

(Heard only)

I’d like to apologise...I’m sure you live

With that injustice every day, without me

speaking about it...so, I’d like to

             apologise...I’m sorry.
