Introduction to Welsh Art

An introduction to Welsh Art, with a focus on key artists from the 20th century to present day. The course will explore the quiet ouvre of Gwen John, the international appeal of Ceri Richards, Sir Kyffin Williams' Snowdonia, and the vibrant diversity of contemporary artists today, namely Ivor Davies, Iwan Bala, Shani Rhys James, Bethan Huws, Tim Davies and Carwyn Evans to name but a few.

Rossetti and the Pre-Raphaelite Dream

An introduction to the work of Dante Gabriel Rossetti, founding member of the Pre-Rahaelite Brotherhood. This course will analyse his work whils exploring his literary influences, his muses and the Victorian circle that inspired him. A fascintating course for those interested in Victorian painting and the myths and legacy of the Pre-Raphaelite brotherhood.


Street Spirit: Street Photography

What is 'Street Photography'? This day school takes in Maciej Dakowicz's Cardiff at night exhibition at Third Floor Gallery, followed by a chance to learn the basics and get the best out of your camera. The day will culminate in an afternoon of street photography around Cardiff Bay, where you can explore observation techniques and build your own snapshot of Cardiff.Please note that this is primarily for beginners, but all welcome. Please bring your own digital / mobile phone camera!
