Fio makes fearless theatre: work that tears down stereotypes and challenges injustice. Our approach is inclusive and our guiding principle is relevance.  Our home is Cardiff and we work across the UK and Internationally.

Due to successfully securing Arts Council Wales Creative Steps funding to support significant organisational development, Fio is looking for additional Trustees to join our small and dedicated Board and help guide the company through its next stage of development.

We want to broaden our Board’s skills base, knowledge and networks and seek people who can help us think long term and strategically and who can motivate, support and challenge us as we move ahead. You will have the personal presence, influence and connections to drive our ambitions forward and build support for the company. While sector experience is not essential, we are keen to hear from those with a passion for the arts and interested in seeing a more representative sector.  We are particularly keen to hear from those working in or with experience of:

  • Finance and Accounting
  • Commercial Theatre Production/Touring
  • Communications and Influencing
  • Legal expertise

Fio is a diverse creative charity based in Cardiff: a dedicated team of artists, facilitators, directors, and supporters all committed to amplifying the unheard voices and untold stories of those most in need. We believe everyone has a story to tell, whatever their age, ability, background or circumstances. We exist to amplify the voices and stories that go unheard: from the streets of Cardiff to the Somali civil war, from growing up in the Valleys to fleeing Syria as a young refugee.  We make theatre. We run projects, summer schools, and year-round programmes. We develop new works and we produce dynamic and provocative professional shows, which bring big political questions to local audiences.

We welcome applications from candidates with the relevant skills and experience to undertake the role effectively, who have an interest in and understanding of the arts and who are eligible to act as a charity trustee. We are also committed to increasing the diversity of the Board and to recruiting Trustees who are currently under-represented, especially people from a BAME background.

The role of Trustee is voluntary. Meetings take place 4 times a year and attendance at performances and events are encouraged.  Travel expenses will be reimbursed for Trustees based outside of Cardiff & Wales.

Successful candidates will be required to undergo an Enhanced DBS check.

If you meet the above criteria and would like to find out more about the role please email admin@wearefio.co.uk for an application pack or for further details.

Closing date for applications:  5pm 25th July 2018

Conversations with interested individuals will take place based on individuals availability, either in person or via phone/ skype.

Fio is strongly committed to diversity. We strive to recruit, retain and advance people of all backgrounds so that our workforce reflects the diversity of our work and our communities.
