Casting for TOUCH - NTW and Migrations seeking four dancers

National Theatre Wales and Migrations are casting for Touch.

 

National Theatre Wales will team up with arts organisation Migrations, French choreographer and dancer Julie Nioche and choreographers Filiz Sizanli and Mustafa Kaplan from Turkey, to create Touch, a site-specific, interactive and tactile dance piece about the therapeutic aspects of dance and the social place of the body. Made and performed in a medical facility in north Wales

 

Roles: We are seeking four professional dancers who should have;

  • strong improvisation skills
  • experience of and interest in interactive performance
  • experience of and interest in touch in dance practice
  • understanding of site-specific work and an ability to adapt to working in non-traditional settings
  • comfort working in a medical environment
  • an interest in working with object manipulation and fabricating things with props

 

As part of the project you will be working closely with the lead choreographers to develop dance performances inspired by your own memories and experiences, requiring therefore a certain personal engagement.

 

The work will demand interaction with audience members through touch.

 

The piece may involve recording of text so being comfortable with this would be

desirable.

 

Renumeration:

 

Fee Offered - £966 (consisting of company wage of £585 and overtime at £347) plus £84 as Holiday Pay accrued

 

Relocation or commuting allowance, when applicable, will be paid in line with UK Theatre / Equity Subsidised Agreement Rates for 2017-19.

For the first date of the engagement, 18th May 2018, £100 will be paid and any travel and accommodation expenses covered.

 

Location: Touch will be created and performed in North Wales. It will be site located, at a medical facility

We will be meeting people to discuss the opportunity (there will be no dance audition) during the week commencing the 26th Feb in Cardiff and North Wales and it will also be possible meet via Skype. You must indicate in which location you would prefer to meet, or whether Skype is prefereable
