Casting Call - Gender Identity Investigation, Physical Theatre

Flying Diplodocus are looking for two UK based performers to join their show research into Gender Identity. There are 3 weeks of development in Wales from 22nd Feb 2016 – 12th March 2016. This phase of development follows on from 2 other development phases in 2015 and the two new performers would be joining an existing cast of 4 people. It is hoped that the two people who join us for this development will be part of the end show to be created later in the year (funding dependent).

The piece uses: circus, movement, verbatim text and physical theatre to explore the topic and you must be confident in using your voice to be considered.  The process and show will be directed by Paul Evans and you need to be open to new ways of working including being directed and choreographed within someone else’s vision, the process is highly collaborative, but requires a willingness to just go with it, (more information can be found at: www.flyingdiplodocus.co.uk).

We are looking for ground-based skills in acrobatics or dance combinations: Hand to Hand, Acro Dance, Contemporary Dance, Tricking, Ballet, Hand Balancing, etc.

Applications are by a showreel of no more than 3 min’s (showreels that are over 3 min’s will be stopped at the 3 min mark) and a CV to: info@flyingdiplodocus.co.uk and close on the 23rd Jan with Auditions to be held in Cardiff on 31st Jan. You must be available for audition and all research dates to be considered.

Pay is £450 per week, plus reasonable travel expenses and accommodation.

Flying Diplodocus are supported by: Arts Council of Wales, Creu Cymru, and NoFit State. This project has additional support from: Pontardawe Arts Centre, Wales Millennium Centre, Circus Futures, Up& Out Network, Coreo Cymru and The Roundhouse.
