Connection through Culture: UK- India is open! Have a read!

The current round of applications for the Connections though Culture: UK – India grant scheme is open.

The closing date for applications will be November 30th 2010.

Connections through Culture: UK – India is the British Council’s programme to seed and support collaborative working between the UK and India in the arts, to generate long term partnerships between arts organisations and producers in the UK and their counterparts in India. It’s focused on the arts industry itself – producers, festivals, curators, arts organisations and companies – and aims to build strong, sustainable relationships between organisations in the two countries.

Creative Networking - Our creative networking programmes in both the UK and India are designed to forge connections and break down barriers between the people in our two countries who make arts happen. We have a number of small grants available towards the costs of research visits to the partner country. This is aimed at helping organisations further potential partnerships with face to face discussions needed to develop projects beyond initial interest.

Development Support - So you have a great idea and are starting a new collaborative relationship. We recognise that working collaboratively when you are 5,000 miles apart can be challenging, but we might be able to offer support to help you develop your project into something really special. We have a number of grants available, primarily aimed at contributing towards travel and production costs, to help you develop collaborative work.

Showcasing Collaborations - If you’ve been working collaboratively and you’ve got something that will wow the world; talk to us about it. While Connections through Culture: UK – India is primarily about the development of relationships to enable collaborative work to happen, there are cases where we can support showcasing of work in India, through small grants which can form part of overall costs.

Advice and brokerage - If you just need some advice, we’ve got a small team of specialists in both the UK and India and we will endeavour to help. Please contact Eleanor.Douglas-Allan@britishcouncil.org (UK) orPreeti.Gaonkar@in.britishcouncil.org (India) for advice or help about the Connections through Culture: UK – Indiaprogramme.
