Creative Visit with Albany Park Theatre Project

Last Friday we hosted a creative visit with David and Maggie of the amazing Albany Park Theatre Project.  They travelled all the way from Chicago to NTW HQ to offer us a fascinating insight to their work, their ethos and their aims for the future.

The team at APTP work with some of the most underprivileged young people in Chicago, offering them the opportunity to explore their creativity and to learn new skills, providing them with the impetus to remain in education and generating a safe space (a home) for them to simply enjoy being a teenager.

On top of all of this, social activism lies at the heart of everything they do and they act as agents for change in their city and the world beyond, encouraging all of their participants and audiences to follow suit.  Their mission is to create a "More Just and Beautiful World" - and with inspirational performances such as Home/Land and Feast, they are well on their way to doing so.

If you have a spare ten minutes, or even if you don't, please check them out; you will be impressed, I promise you! http://aptpchicago.org/

With grateful thanks to the brilliant Rhiannon White for linking NTW TEAM with APTP.

HOME/LAND - "A passionate and well-argued piece of political theater about immigration...a howl of collective anguish." (Chicago Tribune)

FEAST - "Will surely make you hungry but also move you deeply" (Chicago Tribune)
