Dementia and song: Screening of 'Before I Leave' documentary with talks from Patrick Jones and Paul Thomas

On Tuesday May 16th 2017 at 11.00am, as part of our Dementia Awareness Week programme, Cardiff Libraries have teamed up with National Theatre Wales and Patrick Jones to screen the documentary about the making of the hugely successful production, 'Before I Leave'.

Before I Leave is a funny, moving and ultimately uplifting production inspired by community choirs made up of people with dementia. It was performed 27th May - 11th June 2016 in the Sherman Theatre, Cardiff, and produced by National Theatre Wales with Wales Millennium Centre.

Following the screening, Patrick Jones will be reading from a work in progress collection of poems inspired by his experiences of working with those affected by dementia, sharing the journey he took when writing Before I Leave and also offering a few short writing triggers to get everyone sharing their stories.

In addition to this, Paul Thomas who was behind the I’ll Sing This Song digital project will give a talk and demonstration of the app that accompanied Before I Leave.

Free tickets can be obtained from eventbrite by following the link below.  If you have any issues with this, please call Rob Sadler on 029 20780968.
