The Education & Participation Officer within The Riverfront Theatre & Arts Centre initiates manages and develops liaison and projects with the formal education sector. You will be required to commence in October 2009.
The current activity includes:
- An education programme for the formal education sector, including school and college based projects, activities at The Riverfront and other collaborations.
- The SPARK project: 120 workshops a year, across 6 primary schools, now in its third year.
- A work experience programme.
- Delivery of education packages to support the visiting company programme.
This is an exciting opportunity to build on the successes of the past five years, and to develop further access to the arts in Newport.
The position is offered on a fixed term basis until July 2010, to provide cover for maternity leave, working 22 hours 30 minutes (3 days) per week.
The successful candidate will have a good understanding of arts education and project management.
The Riverfront, opened in 2004, is a £16m centre for a diverse range of live performances, workshops and exhibitions. It houses two theatre spaces, a dance studio, a recording studio, two exhibition spaces, three workshops and a conference room.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and is subject to a satisfactory Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check.
