As part of the ‘Re-awakening the Llandudno Pierrots’ project, Venue Cymru are pleased to offer:
FREE CREATIVE ARTS TRAINING FOR PROFESSIONALS
‘An Introduction to Pierrots & Concert Party’
by Dr Tony Lidington, Director of Promenade Productions and leading academic and exponent of Pierrot practise.
6th & 7th June 2018 10am - 4pm Venue Cymru, Llandudno
This is a free (courtesy of a grant from Heritage Lottery), informal training for creative practitioners and artists. It is designed for anyone who is interested in developing work in physical and outdoor mediums, focusing on the practise and history of North Wales very own Pierrot troupe.
The sessions will be based at Venue Cymru and include:
An introduction to the whole project of ‘Re-awakening the Llandudno Pierrots’
An introduction to the art form - both its history and its social context.
Opportunity to devise and develop routines utilising traditional skills and techniques. Experiment with Pierrot costume and make up.
An opportunity to consider and discuss the ways such techniques could inform your own practise.
The process will culminate with artists developing their own interpretation of the art of the Pierrot which will be performed on Saturday 29th September 2018 as part of the Seaside Follies event. It is essential that you are available for this.
