Free Workshops at Unity 2013 available via application

 

June 12th - June 22th 2013

Hijinx Theatre's sixth annual Unity Festival will run over 10 days this summer, and feature stunning Flamenco from Seville, jaw dropping acrobatics from France, ballet on bicycles and an Iron Man Puppet the size of a double decker bus. For full info please visit www.hijinx.org.uk/unity

As always alongside our performance programme we will be offering a series of free workshops delivered by many of the companies taking part in the festival. These workshops are accessed via an application process which is available by email to unity@hijinx.org.uk or can be filled in online at http://www.hijinx.org.uk/workshop-application-form-1/

This year we are offering the following workshops via application. Places will be offered via a first come first serve basis, though we will also be assessing suitability of applicants for each workshop from your application. Wot No Fish Workshop

Wed 12th June

10am - 4pm

Sherman Cymru

Workshop looking at performance and devising techniques used in the creation of Wot No Fish - performing at Sherman Cymru on 13th June

Candoco Dance Company

Friday 14th June

10am - 4pm

Sherman Cymru

Dancers from Candoco Dance Company will be leading an inclusive dance workshop that will offer participants an insight into the company’s practice. Candoco perform Three Acts of Play at Sherman Cymru on the 12th June

Jose Galan and Danza Mobile

Sat 15th June

10am - 4pm

Weston Studio, WMC

Jose Galan and flamenco dancers from Danza Mobile will teach participants this most traditional of Spanish dances before there performance of En Mis Cabales at 8pm in the Weston Studio

Outside WMC

A workshop on bicycles! Includes the chance to be part of the shows latter in the day by Bicycle Ballet - bring your own bike!

2 day drumming workshop leading to finale performance of our Family Weekend on the steps of the Senedd

Mind the Gap

Musician and actor Jez

A chance to learn about the creation of Irresistible (performing at the festival on Sat 15th and Sun 16th June) from artists Jez Colburn and Mind the Gap Artisitic Director Tim Wheeler.

Kazzum

Creative Interaction - An Inclusive Approach

Mon 17th June

10am - 4pm

Weston Studio, WMC

Led by company Artistic Director Daryl Beaton, this workshop unpacks Kazzum’s approach to the ‘shared creative experience’ of interactive theatre through performance and design. Kazzum perform Addressed to A Friend at the festival during our Family Weekend on the 15th adn 16th June.
