I may perhaps have had a glass or 2 when I wrote that. Witness the typing, I can spell the honest. Wonder if I can fit a breathalyser to my keyboard ?
Anyways, I think that this endeavour should have its own "look" & it needs to appeal to a wider audience than say Chapter does. Cardiff is a large population centre and can "service" a facility like Chapter. Productions that appeal to a relative minority of the total audience can get a hearing and be commercially viable. And believe me I think that's absolutely great. Would the same be true in LLandrindod Wells, probably not? This may be a pretty tricky line to tread. It's no good dumbing down but neither is it any good only appealing to the "artistic" audience in the way that a venue like Chapter does. Speaking for myself although I attend a pretty wide mix of events theatre , music & dance I very rarely go to Chapter, The New, The Sherman, Weston Studio St Davids, WMC sure pretty often but Chapter’s offerings rarely appeal to me. I suppose that is personal & purely subjective & perhaps show me up as being not very intellectual in that I prefer to be entertained first & educated second. This project will, inevitably be judged commercially as well as artistically. It is no good the great & the good saying what wonderful work it presents but at the same time losing an absolute fortune. It is possible to present good work & make money but once you leave Cardiff, Newport, Swansea behind you are fishing in a smaller pond audience wise so you have to aim to catch a larger proportion.

And “how do you get to look like Chapter Arts Centre?” I guess you get the builders in.
