We have extended applications for this great opportunity to get involved with NTW's next production.
As the Emerging Director on NTW’s next production, I have the wonderful task of finding an ensemble of twelve people who would like to step into Chekhov’s world in the 1890’s.
From a short story by Chekhov, ‘A Provincial Life’ has been written by acclaimed Playwright Peter Gill who will return to his native Cardiff to direct a 15 strong cast in this production at the Sherman Theatre in March. With production preparation well under way and samovars being sourced left right and centre, an essential part of the story – the people who make up the town and country, need to be gathered.
The ensemble will be made up of community members who have a genuine interest in being part of this exciting process and will need to be available for all dates specified in Cardiff.
The ensemble will be a diverse group of all ages who will be involved in scenes and scene changes to redefine the space as the story progresses. It is essential that all involved are happy to lift and move props and furniture.
This opportunity is unpaid but the rewards of working with such a dynamic creative team are plenty.
You would need to be available for the following dates:
Jan/Feb: Weekly Workshops/Rehearsal from the week of the 23rd of January (One session per week in Cardiff TBC)
22nd February - 1st March: Rehearsal, technical rehearsal and dress rehearsal at The Sherman Theatre, Cardiff.
1st - 17th March: Evening performances with matinees on the 8th, 10th, 15th, 17th.
There will also be a costume fitting in London at the beginning of February (TBC).
