Made in Roath 2013 - Radio Roath opportunity

RADIO ROATH

Artist Opportunity – Made in Roath 2013

Background

Made in Roath is an artist-led event, now in its 5th year, which aims to take art out of the gallery and into the wider community, allowing a larger and broader audience to access the wealth of creative talent in our neighbourhood. It showcases the work of emerging and established artists, makers, musicians, writers and performers, who use the whole of Roath as the venue, including domestic, commercial, public and overlooked or disused spaces.

Made in Roath offers residents and visitors an opportunity to engage in the arts through a dynamic programme and events, including an open exhibition, open houses, open studios, film, poetry and literature, music, visual arts, outreach, education, workshops and out-of-Roath events.

This year’s Made in Roath Festival will run from 17th – 24th October 2013.

Project

Throughout Made in Roath 2013, the ‘Radio Roath’ station will be broadcasting, commenting on and documenting the festival. In partnership with Glamorgan University and hosted by Steve Johnson, former Radio Wales DJ, it will be produced by a roving team of first year broadcast students.

Broadcasting activity will take place in a temporary radio studio set up in a local pub. Content, interviews, recordings and sound bites etc will be collected from all over the festival. Some broadcasts will be live, others recorded beforehand.

We are looking for expressions of interest from artists who would like to work as part of the Radio Roath team.

Artist

Artists working in any media are able to apply, however it must be evident how the project fits within your practice. You may be a sound artist interested in using the station as a platform to make and show work, or your practice may involve engaging with people, gathering stories or interviews. We are open to the manner in which the artist uses, interacts with and creates content for Radio Roath. We encourage applications from artists at any stage of their career.
