WORKING UP THE SCENE
Cardiff Director’s Lab 3rd workshop over 2 weekends: March 2011:

• 1st Weekend: Sat 19th- Sun 20th 
• 2nd Weekend: Sat 26th- Sun 27th
  (Attendance to first weekend is a must if willing to participate on 2nd Weekend)

Working Up the Scene is a hands-on experience workshop using a Meisner/Mamet approach to scene work. These workshops are designed for directors and actors who have some training or knowledge on Meisner Technique.

At Cardiff Director’s Lab we endeavor to bring highly regarded professionals to Wales, to train directors and actors in different techniques, working in small number groups and for the minimum costs possible.

ABOUT STEPHEN BAYLY, Producer, Writer, Director, Former director of the NFTS and Ealing Film Studios. As consultant, he helped establish the highly regarded Actors Temple in London, a training ground for actors specializing in the techniques of Sanford Meisner. He has study Meisner intensively for years and now specializes in teaching directors how to work with actors using these methods. He has worked alongside directors such as Tony and Ridley Scott, Claude Chabrol, Volker Schloendorf, Marleen Gorris... His films have received several Baftas, Oscar nominations and a Golden Bear in Berlin. He is a member of the Industry Panel of the Skillset Media Academy Wales.

DATES: 4 full days over two weekends:
Weekend 1: Sat 19 - Sun 20 - 9.30am to 5.30pm (16hrs)
Weekend 2: Sat 26 - Sun 27 - 9.30am to 5.30pm (32hrs Note: Attending first weekend is a must. )

Please notice this workshop intends to give directors and actors a real hands-on experience at a minimum possible cost. It is intended for a small group of Directors and actors and places will be offered on a first come basis. We recommend booking promptly to avoid disappointment.

WORKSHOP COST:
DIRECTORS: £150 1st weekend / £250 both weekends: New and established Directors with some previous knowledge/experience of Meisner technique.

ACTORS: £60 1st weekend /£100 both weekends: Must have previous Meisner Technique experience.
Actors please notice you will be expected to perform on scenes directed by the participant directors.

*OBSERVANT: 60 per weekend.

*There would be a few places as observant. These would be first offered to those booking for the full workshops but whom we may be unable to offer a participant place.
