I've recently been working with Sarah Jones and Mess Up The Mess theatre on a new Forum theatre piece around the subject of anxiety issues in young people. It's been both a tough and delightful process - the toughness coming from the subject matter and the delight coming from working with such a professional group of young people who are committed to making great theatre.

I attended the first performance of the play last Friday at Y Ffwrnes in Llanelli and it was an experience that I shall never forget. The whole cast were terrific - with a special shout out to Beefy who played the lead role with maturity and sensitivity. It's a play about the choices that young people are faced with and I left the performance feeling genuinely changed by it - I, of course, knew the script well but it was the performances in the theatre's studio space that really made me reconsider mental health issues and the difficulties surrounding them.

I have to admit, it's been a dream of a job for me - the young people at Mess Up The Mess have been committed to the project from the start and have really fed into the devising/writing process.

So, in addition to saying well done to everyone involved, I'd also like to add that this is, I think, a play that can make a difference to its target audience.
